vauxhall astra - whiteish sludge 1 Apr 2015 (Forum)
09 plate car Looked at the oil today and there was white ish sludge on the dipstick. Otherhalf took it for a 40 mile drive and told me that the oil light briefly came on, but that the sludge wasnt as thick after the drive. Generally I do short trips with the kids and a friend has told me that its just moisture because of the cold weather and that I shouldnt worry about it. -
Honda AccordCRV (2014) - Headlight adjustment 30 Mar 2015 (Forum)
The auto hi-discharge nearside dipped headlight on my Honda CRV is clearly set higher than the offside. The handbook says beam deflectors are not necessary for continental driving. I frequently drive in France and am often "flashed" by drivers of on-coming vehicles when they encounter my dipped headlight. I advised th main dealer of this and asked them to check the alignment. -

Hyundai Tucson - Brakes operate without pedal 7 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Hi, My 2005 Tucson brakes can operate via the ABS without pressing the pedal. This can happen when the key is turned or driving down the road. ABS light turns on, then TCS OFF light, then 4WD SYSTEM WARNING light. When all 3 lights are on the ABS is disabled and the car drives well, the intermittent brake operation no longer happens. -
Google - Google driverless cars 30 May 2014 (Forum)
The article also suggest about emergency situations where human input might be needed and goes on to say that this could be more dangerous sa the human operating the vehicle will have got used to not driving. I think it is a good idea but agree with the whole humans forgetting how to drive in an emergency. What to other backroom members think? -
BMW X3 E83 SUV (2004 - ) - 05 2000 rear differential problems 18 Nov 2013 (Forum)
When driving the car, when i go to pull off a clunking noise can be heard from the differential; also when driving normally when i ease off the gers and slow down i can still hear a cunking noise. The garage told me that there is nothing wrong with the differential and that the tyres may be faulty, can anyone tell if there have been any similar problems you have heard of? -
HGV v PSV 3 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Ended up lifting it and towing it home, now this was legal yet if the driver drove the bus home he would have been breaking the law? So why can't HGVs drivers drive buses and bus drivers drive the rigid trucks? -
Pug 205 petrol - Oil in coolant reservoir 1 Jul 2013 (Forum)
After collecting a 1991 205 and driving it 230 miles here I found oil on the top of the coolant, maybe 2 or 3mm deep. First thought clearly head gasket, but the engine drives nicely, does not overheat, the reservoir does not pressurise and there is no mayo in the oil filler. -

VW Urban Fox 55 - VW Fox Wishbone Bushes 4 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I do not necessarily have a problem with this but the car also passed its MOT at the same service. The car is 4 years old, 19000 miles, no vibration or noises when driving / steering and no undue tyre wear. My question is how can a car require immediate attention but pass its MOT. Is the car safe to drive? -
Lexus IS 220D - Lexus IS lagging below 2000 revs 1 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I have a lexus is220d (2007), service and maintained from the main dealers. It has really bad lag below 2200 revs, to the extent it is difficult to drive on steep rds. It also jerks at low revs, once I accelerate over 2000 revs it drives quite normal. Fuel consumption is high, have cleaned the EGR valve and MAF sensor, run a number of cleaners through but sadly no progress. -
All - Coasting-how far can you go? 10 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Yeah, I know driving instructors tell you that your car will fly off the road if you do it but does anyone else coast in a bid to save fuel/spice up slow driving? There's a hill near where I live and starting from the top I managed 1.9 miles as measured on the trip. -

When turning ignition off & on fault clears, but after driving for a few min re appears continous. Also on ignition get a red brake warning light although goes off after engine starts.
