Mercedes-Benz 300 SL roadster - First drive if the year 4 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Over the winter myself and a friend converted her to EFI from mechanical injection (old bits put in box for storage). Full services done last weekend even though it had done less than 1k miles since being brought back on the road seeming as it can't do any harm. Fresh petrol in the tank and she fired in to life. -

Keys and mobiles in-car killers! 31 Oct 2011 (Forum)
At 60 km/h a smartphone has an effective mass of 60 kgs IIRC. As my Focus is not over-burdened with storage spaces (a later version my colleague drives has a lidded armrest and a hinged flap to the lower console compartment) I have always carried my house keys in my pocket and placed my BlackBerry in the open phone slot next to the handbrake. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 03 2.0HDi Clonking from underneath front N/S 8 May 2009 (Forum)
It's not too bad with just me on board, but more pronounced when the missus in on the passenger seat. I've done the rounds: Checked the storage pockets and bins for loose things, the doors for worn catches and rattles, the exhaust for tightness, all to no avail. I *HAVE* seen a thought that the clonking can be caused by worn ball joints at the ends on the drop links, which go between the ends of the anti-roll bar and the front wishbones. -
Claim from other driver his fault, I'm TPFT 28 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Can I scrap it before his insurers examine it, or can I just supply photos? As it happens I have off-road storage space, but SWMBO is unamused at rusting heaps littering the view. -
Espada's new car 16 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I've only done 14,000 miles in it and I'm very sorry to see it go. For me, its real selling points were (in no particular order) a huge amount of internal storage room, great ride for a sporty car, and easy access and egress. It has also been supremely reliable. So what to replace it with? Well I've taken Dad's old Forester (a 99V with 40,000miles) , and traded it in for a 14 month old, 20,000 mile, Subaru Outback 3.0Rn. -
Mondeo Titanium Sony stereo bluetooth 1 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I think that the Sony stereo installed in the Mondeo already has bluetooth built in and its just a case of activating it via a security code. I have this point of view as I sell fingerprint readers which have a storage capacity for 250 fingerprints. We offer some people a free upgrade to 2000 users and this is done in the same way. The function is already there, its just a case of activating it!!! Now then, here is the big one!! -
Battery mystery 23 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I attacked it with a multimeter and found the battery was only delivering around 8.5 volts when operating the starter. It was nearly three years old, and the car had been in storage for a lot of that time, so I wasted no time replacing it. I also checked the battery and earth leads and cleaned up the connections. The replacement battery delivered 10.5 volts when operating the starter, which is fine from what I have read, but the cranking speed didn't seem a lot better, even after I had charged the battery in case it had lost charge while sitting in the shop. -
