I have a Handa Izy mower that will not start. If I remove the air filter and squirt fuel direct into the carb, it will start and carry on running fine. Aslo after it has run for a few minutes it will start straight away. But each week I go to use it, I have to go thriugh the same procedure. Any ideas?

  • espace with no power to fuel pump 23 Oct 2004 (Forum)
My Renault Espace 1990 Petrol injection won't fire. Mechanic has confirmed it runs if power is run directly to the fuel pump, but otherwise pump receives no power. He suggested ECU controls fuel pump so that's been computer checked and is OK. He thinks there is a relay somewhere but cannot locate it.
  • Cars & Films 16 Aug 2004 (Forum)
After the Best Ferrari thread and the mention of the Countach its got me thinking of what is the best Cars/Film moments. I go for Cannonball Run (1 of course). The noise, the excessive gear changes, the defacing of the speed sign, the two great looking chicks. Above all tho it was the fact that the car was an original, rather than kit car (unlike late Cannonball Run movies) Lamborghini.

  • Corsa 1.2 16v DOHC 17 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Nice car, but it doesn't seem to like long journeys. After 25 50 miles it runs really rough and the engine management light comes on. Attempt to restart produces high revving. Once towed home the car starts and runs perfectly. Vaux tried a new EGR valve, but hasn't worked. Anyone got any ideas or had a similar problem.
  • rover metro 1.3 9 Dec 2002 (Forum)
my daugter runs a 1989 metro which has done 51000 miles. the engine seems to run on after being turned off, I assume it must be carbonised up. Does any body out there recommend a decent addictive or cleaner. Also the suspension needs pumping up , do I have to take it to a main dealer for this, or is there another way of doing this. thanks.

  • mg midgets and synthetic oil 10 Apr 2001 (Forum)
My son and I are nearing the end of a total rebuild of a Mk111 Midget. I would like to run the engine on fully synthetic Shell oil but we are unsure wether we should "run-in " the engine first on Mineral oil. PS. Mobil 1 in the USA is only 4.50 dollars a quart. We seem to be paying over the odds here.
  • Peugeot 806 MPV (1995 - 2003) - 01 2.0 Fuel pressure sensor fault 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I have disconnected the fuel pressure sensor (the one that sits upside down on the common rail with the red three pin connector) and by doing so the car no longer cuts out. But is now running badly with the timing all over the place...this is to be expected as the ecu would be running default settings. Interestingly with the fuel pressure sensor disconnected the car no longer continues to run on when the ignition is turned off.
  • Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 SE Cuts out when idle/coast- Runs Rough 25 May 2011 (Forum)
The problems also appears to be becoming more frequent, so I'm worried it's getting worse. I find that running the air con at full power seems to make it worse as well. If I stop the engine, wait 5 minutes, the car runs just fine, and so long as it's had a chance to warm up, will be fine. until the trip home...

  • Nissan S Cargo 1990 - 1990 Nissan not starting 17 Sep 2018 (Forum)
When checking the spark plugs, they are bone dry although when I took the carburettor off to check it, there is a pool of fuel in the inlet manifold. So is there in the inlet manifold, is the catalytic converter stopping the engine running or is that light only on because it's not been run for a while (well not run for long enough) I'm not a mechanic but I tinker a lot but I cannot figure this out. Can someone please help.
