Oil Specification Help 19 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Recently went to my local fast fit centre (ATS) for an oil and filter change as it had been approx 6k since they were last changed. Car is a SEAT Leon 1.9TDI 90bhp - Non PD engine I believe. Upon looking in the car handbook it says that I should use VW 506 00 or VW 506 01 oils. -
Another Oil question. 1.4 Escort (92) 8 Feb 2005 (Forum)
This was in October. The leaking has stopped but the oil on the dipstick is black and looking a bit thin, and smells a bit "petrolly" compared to whats in the oil can. Should i change it now, or will it last thru till october again? The engine is running fine by the way. -
'98 primera- which oil ?? Semi or fully 19 Jan 2006 (Forum)
It has been about 5,500 miles since I last had the oil changed in my 2.se '98 Primera, and thought I would pop to National to get it changed. It has done 99,000 miles and still ticks over like a dream. Is it really worth paying the extra and putting fully syntetic oil in or shoould I stick to semi ?? -
BMW Diesels & Synthetic Oil 10 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Having recently purchased a new 320d SE, (with which I am absolutely delighted) - I am somewhat confused as to oil change intervals, BMW are recommending 13k miles when Castrol SLX synthetic is used, whilst H.J. is saying oil must be changed after 6k miles. Is this still necessary with these modern lubricants, which cost in excess of £11 per litre? -
hyundai getz 1300 petrol - whining noise in 1st gear 27 Apr 2015 (Forum)
It doesn't go away when the clutch is used. It had the gearbox taken out a while ago when the ring gear was replaced. The oil was changed in the GB and the gears are stiff when cold. Could the oil be the problem, if so I will get the oil changed? -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 1.8 Oil filter 10 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi there! I have a question about fitting new oil filter. I heard that it is better to put some oil into a new oil filter before threading it to its' place after engine oil change. Is that true? Or it's fine fitting it as it is - fresh and clean without any oil? -
VW oil recommendation 25 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I need to do a 30,000 mile oil change on my 1 litre March 02 VW LUPO, but can't find the oil recommended in handbook at Halfords. There is an oil on the Halfords chart which they say is for my car but on the can it says do not use if your handbook recommends another oil. -

Peugeot 207 (2006 - ) - First Service!!!!? 1 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I have inherited a 207 petrol m:play that is due for it's first service as it will be 2 years old it has only done 4,000 miles and there is no need for an oil change ( has passed by finger test ! ) I phone the main dealer and asked if he would do the First Service without the oil change~~ he agreed that it probably did not need an oil change but said that is what the First Service consisted of and without it he would not stamp by warranty book~~so £190 quid for something that does not need doing! -
Vacuum Pump Oil Changes 15 May 2005 (Forum)
I notice the question was raised in H.J`s column in this week`s Telegraph about oil changes using a vacuum pump via the dipstick tube, and that H.J. mentioned his dislike of this practice as not all the sludge was being removed from the sump. Unfortunately to maintain/increase profitability, this practice is now becoming the norm in many main dealerships including BMW. -

Easy Oil Change 2 1 Feb 2002 (Forum)
I have not completed 13 K miles yet, and know that the automated system of service interval is likely to recommend around 10K mile intervals based on my last experience. I plan to change oil at 5000 mile intervals and leave the automated service system untouched to comply with warranty. I know it is influenced indirectly via sensors, by oil viscosity so hope the change will extend the service interval --- unless somebody tells me different! -

Oil General motors EU spec oil 26 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I notice that some vauxhall/chevrolet/Saab dealers are only using the GM spec dexos 1 and2 fully synthetic for their 2011- engines, this will have a major impact on oil service prices. this is apparently factory fill, so beware of aftermarket oil changes outside of official dealerships in case of warranty claims! -
BP Visco 7000 oil 26 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Recently had the oil and filter changed on my car at National, where the used the above oil. It was only £20, plus I had them fill a litre container with some top up oil! Noticed that this oil is 0w40 grade, so £20 is very good value.
