  • Inconsiderate parking - what can I do? 8 Apr 2021 (Forum)
I have contacted the police about the obstruction (as has one of my other neighbours) and have been told that provided I can get my car out of my drive, they won't get involved. I have tried to explain to the police that the only reason I can get my car out is because I have a double width drive and only one car, so have more room to manouvre. If I had a second car on the drive, I would be unable to get out without driving over parts of my garden.
  • Driving, heat, and corporate manslaughter 27 May 2009 (Forum)
We often do demos or installations at locations across the UK and in Europe. As the kit is quite large, we normally have to drive it there as it is a nightmare to fly it. Recently we have started a project with partners in Munich (thanks to all who suggested routes there btw). This is a long drive, 650 miles or so from Calais, so when I went down there I made sure I was with a colleague who could share the driving.
  • Driving in Europe - Questions 8 Nov 2008 (Forum)
The wife and I are planning our first trip to Europe in our own car in the New Year so I thought I would enlist the help of the good folk on this site to get a few pieces of advice. We're planning to drive to the German Alps and the Black Forest so most of the driving will be in Germany with some in France/Holland depending on whether we cross from Hull-Rotterdam or the Calais routes (we live in Leeds, incidentally).
  • Driving slower 21 Mar 2008 (Forum)
This is quite a shocking statistic in itself and makes walking to the local corner shop to buy milk, (at twice the supermarket price) look good value! Anyway, yesterday I had to drive a 540+ mile round-trip to Devon using the M6/M5 from the Northwest, I left early and cruised at approximately 10MPH slower than I would normally drive. My total time driving for the entire trip was about 1 hour more than the "norm" at 9 hours (12% increase), but my fuel consumption was 15% less than normal at 38MPG.

  • Jeep Renegade PHEV - Test Drive 20 Mar 2023 (Forum)
Today's other test drive. This was the standard 4xe, not the more powerful Trailhawk. The setup in this is different again. This is a 4wd with the electric motor driving the back wheels and the petrol driving the front.
  • Honda Jazz - Why the tyre at near-side kerb makes noise? 8 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I drive Honda Jazz 2010 model semi-automatic. When I stop at a road with slope (hilly), I apply my parking brake and switch my gear from A1 (automatic 1st gear) to N (Neutral). When I am about to begin driving, I do the following steps: Press the car brake pedal, switch the gear from N to A1.
  • Reporting Someone for Driving with a Brain Injury 29 Mar 2011 (Forum)
(No fault of their own) Since then they've deteriorated health wise and started suffering with blackout and fits, they have to take extreme amounts of medication on a daily basis which can also cause bad side effects on top of this. I'm becoming increasingly concerned about this person as they will not accept that they can't drive anymore, even after being told by the doctor. This has lead them to lie to the doctor about continuing to drive. Obviously i can't ring their doctor due to confidentality reasons and i've been told they are the only persons allowed to report someone for driving with such illness.

  • any - car with little use parked on drive 30 Jan 2020 (Forum)
I'm looking to buy a nice second car probably spending 10 to 15K, the only thing is it will have relatively little use maybe average  50 - 100 miles a week (not short journeys)  It would sit on the drive exposed to elements. I am mindful that the car might deteriorate. Is this a valid concern or am I worrying about nothing?
  • Does anybody not enjoy driving manuals? 21 May 2018 (Forum)
Recently swapped car and ended up with a manual as it was a good deal and I still really like the car but it is irritating me that I didn’t find another automatic. Hoping I forget about the pleasure of driving an auto or I can’t see me buying a manual car again.
  • Any - Driving Licence Photo Renewal 14 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have just uncovered a new stealth TAX on the motorist.  In the last month or so both me and my wife have been sent forms for the renewal of our driving licence Photo's with £20 to pay for the priviledge. So it seems the government are getting their ID card fees anyway. This is a blatant TAX on the motorists of the UK and a very nice little earner for DVLA.

I'm not on about the guy how has one headlight working but only a sidelight on the other, but those who seem to think its acceptable to drive with a headlight on one side but ziltch on the other... ie you think you are approaching a motorbike only to find that there's a whole car coming towards you!! Madness!

  • Volkswagen Golf II (1983 - 1992) - Selling Car Privately - Test Drive Insurance 7 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I'm selling a car, a first for me, and was wondering what to do if someone wants to test drive the car. Do I take their word that they are correctly insured (they won't be under the car's policy), or should I ask for proof? The car is only worth £300-400.
