  I popped up to the dealers and they took it straight round put it on the ramps and said the fuel filter was leaking diesel and there was an oil leak that was dripping onto a coolant pipe and had damaged the pipe to the point where it was about to rupture. They have given me another E-Class to get around in but I can't believe that if someone hadn't spotted the oil I may well have had a ruptured coolant pipe to deal with.

  Opening the bonnet revealed a fizzing noise and a small amount of steam coming from behind the engine. The coolant didnt seem to be hot. Anyone any ideas? Blockage? Pump failure? Spingledonkit in my Flangesprocket? Also, if I take it easy and keep the needle at normal level will I be OK to get home? thanks in advance Mike C

  A couple of weeks ago I noticed the coolant temperature on my Golf 1.8 GTi was not up to normal(90C) after about 15 minutes driving. I have watched it pretty closely since then and the time taken to reach normal varies greatly from 10 to 30 minutes.

  Car just serviced by main dealer.  They found oil in the coolant header tank but do not think that the head gasket has blown because the oil is not EMULSIFIED. Any ideas?.

  My 1.4 petrol Fusion is using about a litre of oil every 500 miles. There are no leaks, there is no oil in the coolant and there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust. The car has done 105k miles. Anyone any ideas?

  Heater blows cold, even though both heater hoses are hot. If car is started and the water expansion chamber cap is left off, the coolant overflows. Does this mean there is air in the system? If so how do you remove it?

  While draining the coolant from the cylinder block today on my Citroen ZX 1.9D (93) I discovered that the oil level sensor is missing. I'll order & fit a new one but where does it connect to?

  Is it worth the extra cost to change a waterpump at the same time as the cambelt on a mondeo td at the next service? I am intending on replacing the coolant as it is due so cost of antifrreze is not an issue.The pump does not leak or whine and mileage is 78k what do people think?

  xhen  car  is  started  its  fine,  as  it  xarms  up the  rev  counter  stops  xorking,  the  eml  light  comes  on,  the  coolant  light  also  flickering  and  it  runs  jumpy  /  chugging, is  it  crankshaft  sensor?

  blown turbo,so replaced turbo,cleaned out sump but car still smoking although not as bad but would fail mot.no oil or coolant leaks,temp.ok car sounds fine but smoking. any help or advice would be appreciated

  Are there any places online that will post car fluids such as coolant, PAS fluid, gearbox oil etc? I detest going to Halfords and always seem to run out of time to go to the Peugeot dealer...for the sake of a few quid P&P this would be much convenient.

  I'm new here - hello. A week ago the dash signaled overheating - I pulled over, stopped and turned off. The coolant level seemed OK - certainly there was some in the reservoir. After short while I carried on my way with no issue. I had been noting for a week or two previously that the engine cooling fan had been running more than normal when the engine was turned off.

  Close to home, seemed to loose a bit of power, so maybe not just a blowing exhaust. Back home, with torch, still can't see an exhaust leak, but note there is no coolant in the reservoir. Was at the full line this morning. That's head gasket, and/or warped head, isn't it? (No sign of coolant on the dipstick)

  He said he had done a sniff test and it tested positive. Is it worth me getting a 2nd opinion? There was coolant all over the engine so would that cause a positive reading? Sorry I don't know much about cars so I guess I am clutching at straws. The garage quotes round £1500 to fix it. Is that the going rate?

  wife bought the car new in feb 2012 from arnold clark glasgow , got full service end jan 2013 at same garage - 5000 miles . engine temp light came on on way home from work , topped up coolant and light went off and ok for rest of week . went on motorway following week and light came on again , pulled in at services and topped up again an light went off , decided to drive home instead of carrying on , light came on again on motorway and pulled off at nearest exit , car broke down . got rac to tow it to same garage , got report later that there was a faulty coolant pipe and the engine had overheated to failure , vauxhall say they wont repair car under warranty because it was driven 59 miles from time light first came on till last time even tho it went off inbetween , they say she drove the car to destruction and want £4000 for replacement engine , where do we stand ?

  Just wondering, firstly would the absence of typical head gasket failure symptoms DEFINITELY rule that out, and secondly, does this model have any particular weaknesses in the coolant system to allow a starting point for diagnosis of the location of the leak? Cheers in advance.

  Bit of advice please, guys. The coolant expansion tank of my son's Rover 25 regularly requires topping up--at the current rate of loss it would probably go totally dry in a matter of a couple of weeks. There are no other obvious signs of head gasket failure; no mayo under the oil filler cap nor on the dipstick, and the car drives just fine, usually starting first time.

  Undoing the expansion bottle cap releases the pressure with a surge and then the hose is all soft again. Any ideas on this as I don't think it's normal. Head gasket looms to mind but the coolant has no signs of oil nor any water in oil. Nor mayonnaise round oil filler cap. Doesn't appear to lose coolant either. I thought I might get another expansion bottle cap from a breaker in case this wasn't releasing any pressure ------- believe me that top hose gets very hard so there must be alot of pressure building up.

  Car ten years old and 37,000 miles. What should I do other than obvious service items? 3. I want to change the coolant. Given this is a Japanese designed aluminium engine (I think Yamaha), is there a special coolant and anti-freeze I should use? 4. What oil grade? 5. Anything else. The radio code is lost. Is there a way to sort this out without removing the radio itself?
