  • Festival of the Unexceptional returns for 2018 27 Apr 2018 (News)
    . The event, which returns to the grounds of Stowe House, Buckingham, celebrates the ordinary cars that we grew up with but which have now disappeared. First staged in 2014, it was the only event of its kind in Europe and is a lighthearted celebration of mundane motoring. Think Marinas, Metros, Chevettes, Hunters, Allegros, and Corollas.
  • Recording-breaking BTCC Sierra Cosworth for sale 8 Feb 2018 (News)
    A British Touring Car Championship-winning Sierra Cosworth is heading to auction. The 1990 Cosworth RS500 was driven by Robb Gravett, Mike Smith and Stig Blomqvist to victory in the same year. The fast Ford will go under the hammer at Race Retro at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire on 23 February.
  • Hyundai extends scrappage scheme to the end of March 3 Jan 2018 (News)
    Hyundai has extended its scrappage scheme, allowing buyers to get up to £5000 off a new model until March 31. The scheme allows Euro 1-4 emissions standard vehicles (cars that were registered before 31 December 2009), of any make or model, to be scrapped or traded in for a brand-new Hyundai. Customer can save £3500 on the Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid, using the £2000 Hyundai scrappage offer combined with the government-funded £1500 Plug-In Car Grant.
  • Alfa prototype takes top concours award 18 Oct 2017 (News)
    It saw off competition from a 1967 Porsche 911 Targa from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, and the 1967 Red Flag Hongqi CA770 from the Beijing Classic Car Museum. There was also a very rare 1950 Skoda VOS, the car of Marshal Zhu De, restored by Skoda China and now part of the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution. It was the Skoda’s first appearance at the concours event.
  • Scrappage schemes launched by Peugeot, Citroen and DS 8 Sep 2017 (News)
    Peugeot, Citroen and DS launch scrappage schemes offering up to £6400 off a new model when you trade in your old car. Customers must have owned a car of any make and model for more than 90 days can trade it in and receive a scrappage allowance off selected new petrol or diesel models. All new vehicles must be ordered and registered by 31 December 2017. The Citroen and DS scrappage schemes also cannot be used in conjunction with any other existing customer offer.
  • Renault "shocked" at emissions fraud allegations 17 Mar 2017 (News)
    French newspaper Liberation has accused Renault of misleading customers about how much pollution its cars emit. Liberation says it has seen documents from a Government investigation into emissions fraud that show  Renault   employed a strategy aimed at distorting the results of antipollution tests for almost one million cars.  Renault's offices and technical research buildings were raided by police in January 2016 as part of an investigation into the Volkswagen Emissions Scandal.
  • November 2016 recall round up: Kuga fires and dangerous BMW airbags 5 Dec 2016 (News)
    The recall states that the airbag inflator may rupture, causing metal shards to be ejected into the car in the event of an accident. Another large recall affects the Ford Kuga. More than 20,000 produced from 2008-2010 need replacement washer jets, since they may rust and then overheat, causing a localised fire.
  • NEC Classic Motor Show 2016: Mini raises £13,000 for charity 16 Nov 2016 (News)
    A 1969 Mini raised just shy of £13,000 for charity when it sold at auction over the weekend. The car, which had been restored by the MG Owners Club, was sold at the Silverstone Auctions sale on Saturday, 12 November, at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with funds going to Prostate Cancer UK.

    It was originally bought by Mrs Millie Properjohns who wanted to learn to drive at the age of 60. Millie finally gave up driving in 2007 at the age of 98 and the car passed on to her daughter who continued to cherish and maintain it to a very high standard, reaching 33,000 miles. After being stored in a shed for some years the car was then taken over as a restoration project by Lancaster Insurance and first appeared as a project at the 2015 Lancaster Classic Motor Show.
  • 1963 Morris Minor to Travel 3,500 Miles Within Britain in September 4 Aug 2016 (News)

  • Memorial to honour Endurance Rally Association founder 18 Jan 2016 (News)
    The celebration is open to all, friends and colleagues, past and present but numbers have to be restricted and entry will be by invitation only, so anyone wishing to attend, should email nikki@endurorally.com as entry to the venue on the day will be strictly by ticket only. The ERA has also asked attendees with Pioneer, Vintage, Classic or Endurance Rally cars to bring them to Brooklands as it intends to display some of the cars in the paddock.
  • 1949 Talbot-Lago set to star at Historics auction 24 Feb 2014 (News)
    A 1949 Talbot Lago T26 Record Cabriolet will take centre stage at Historics' auction on 8 March at Brooklands, The car, which has been meticulously restored is estimated to sell for £120,000-150,000. And it's a very special of a very special car, with matching numbers, and still in the same configuration as when it left the factory in 1949.

    Aslam Farikullah, Chief Operating Officer at Lotus, said: “This grant is part of a wider strategy for Lotus created to ensure we thrive and grow.  “We are responding to increased global demand for our cars and engineering consultancy services and this grant will help to position Lotus at the forefront of global automotive innovation. We have very exciting plans for our sports cars and it’s a very positive move for Lotus that we’re in a position to create new jobs and to significantly contribute to Britain’s automotive industry.” Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “I am pleased to announce today that our flagship economic plan to create jobs outside of London - the regional growth fund - is awarding Lotus a £10 million grant which will help them develop their next generation of cars and create over 300 new jobs in East Anglia.  "The Government has already supported over 400 projects with £2.6 billion from the Regional Growth Fund, promoting growth in regions across England.
