RM Auctions is pitching up at its first sale of 2014 with an impressive lot-list topper - a 1958 Ferrari 250GT LWB California Spider. It tops the 120-car sale, the 15th time RM pitches up for the Scottsdale week - its sale taking place at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix on 16-17 January. The headline Ferrari is the 11th of 50 long-wheelbase California Spiders. -

Budget 2014: Classic car road tax exemption now rolling at 40 years 19 Mar 2014 (News)
The new cut-off date for classic vehicles will take effect from 1 April 2014, and covers all cars manufactured before 1 January 1974, and confirms our prediction that from 2014, VED exemption would move from fixed to rolling. In the Overview of Legislation and Tax rates for 2014-'15, the treasury states that the rolling benefit will affect around 10,000 classic car owners per year, who are currently paying VED, but will be newly exempt from 2015. -

The customer's existing part is collected, delivered in to the factory, fully remanufactured, then returned back to the customer on an overnight courier service – the fully remanufactured part is covered by a full two-year manufacturer's warranty. The Car Parts Direct round-robin re-manufacturing service usually takes three days and is used regularly by franchised car dealers, garages and even motorists carrying out their own repairs. -

Classics face £10 charge to enter London 12 Jul 2016 (News)
The so-called ‘T-charge’ would apply to the most polluting vehicles entering central London from 2017. The charge would cover all vehicles with pre-Euro 4 emission standards - mainly cars registered before 2005. It means drivers of classic cars will have to pay an extra £10 per day on top of the existing Congestion Charge. -

A barn find collection of more than 60 classic cars worth £12 million will go under the hammer at auction next year. Stunning lots line up for RM and Sotheby's new sale in Manhattan 8 Nov 2013 (News)
RM Auctions has confirmed that its new Art of the Automobile sale and exhibition, which takes place at Sotheby's New York in Manhattan, will featuring one of the most significant car collections to be offered in auction history. The catalogue spans a Brewster-built Vanderbilt family carriage to one-off Bugatti Veyron, and 18 of the 21 cars on offer are expected to fitch more than one million dollars. -

It previously experimented with halving the number of cars in the city by only allowing those with even-numbered licence plates for one day in March, 2015. From the beginning of July, all car owners driving in to Paris will have to register and obtain the correct window sticker for their vehicle. -

The right-hand drive example was sold new to Sir John Saunders, chairman of the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in 1970. It has had only two further owners, and is thought to have covered just 24,000 miles. The car is one of the lots at Bonhams’ 18th annual Aston Martin sale, which takes place on Saturday, 13 May, at Aston Martin Works, Newport Pagnell. More than 40 examples from 65 years of Aston Martin and Lagonda history will be offered for sale.
