The BBC programme 'Rip Off Britain' plans to run a feature on Gumtree, specifically the listing of non-existent vehicles by organised criminal gangs. What they need is an interview with at least one VICTIM, someone who has sent money for a car without actually seeing it. -

VW Golf Mk6 2010 1.4tsi dsg 26k - DSG Judder on 1st/2nd gear in drive 8 May 2014 (Forum)
The golf drives really well apart from take off in drive after a run of @ 10miles, there is a judder between first and second gear, which is really annoying. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the cure. Another problem is If it is the clutch plates, I presume this would not be covered under the 3 year warranty and will be costly. -
Peugeot 406 - Peugeot 406 D8 2.1TD Cooling fans not working 19 Apr 2014 (Forum)
When I unplug the temp sensor (brown plug) which is mounted beneath the fuel filter, the fans kick on at full speed at the same time so I know the fans work. Also, when I turn on the a/c the fans run at low speed but the car still gets hot on the freeway or going up hills. The next step is the check the relays, does anyone know where they are and what they look like? Thanks in advance! -

Mercedes-Benz E-Class W211 2006 V6 - Power loss 2 Apr 2014 (Forum)
However when I select drive the turbo will work once only and then the vehicle goes into limp mode, and will not rev beyond 3000 rpm it takes an age and level ground to reach that, far from the 0 - 60 of 6.8secs previously achieved. I have changed the seals from the air intake hose to the turbo. I have run the engine with the maff sensors connected one at a time and none connected at all but no difference. can anybody help please. -
Ford Focus 1.8tdci Zetec - Ford Focus 1.8tdci Servicing 2004 Model 18 Mar 2014 (Forum)
It's got just over 50,000 miles on it and has got full service history having been done every year (8 stamps) regardless off mileage (average works out at a servive every 6,250 miles). Happy with it so far, everything seems to be as it should and it's running well. Although the servicing has been slightly excessive, I would like to keep it well serviced so plan on getting it done in the next month or so. Is there anything else that I should look to be changing/getting looked at whilst it's in for a service? -

Hi, I've got the folowing problem. The car start hard. You have to crank the engine for about 10-15 seconds to start. It does not matter cold or warm. When it start ,runs verywell. No loss of power,no smoke, just fine.Starter works well.I have changed the glow plugs. The glow plug relay works too.The timing is ok too.Compression is 29 bars. After all this checking,i try to start the car pushing. It start straightway.Try it 10 more times. No problem, it starts straightway. It need to turn the wheel a quarter to start.I've put it on diagnostic,no fault codes stored. So i get stuck at that point. Please help -
Volvo S60 2.4 D5 - Seized idler pulley 22 Jan 2014 (Forum)
My questions are: a) Could this treatment to the engine have caused damage to the bearing's seal that in turn has caused the bearing to fail? b) Could an engine with a developing problem of this kind keep running for 5000 miles in 1 month? Your opinion would be much appreciated. Regards Tom -

Noisy Plumbing 9 Oct 2013 (Forum)
It's a different noise, SWMBO says it sounds like a plane landing. The noise is coming from the feed pipe, 15mm copper which runs up through the house. I'm assuming the noise is created by the flow of water resonating the pipe. What's the cure? The pipe is all boarded in, so can't be got at. -
Can I still use Uk licence in Uk with foreign car 24 Aug 2013 (Forum)
As a UK national now resident in France I may be worrying needlessly but I DO know my Uk driving licence is valid to drive in France without having to exchange it (EU Directive) (presumably until it is due to run out when I have to renew in france) and I also know that it is illegal for a UK residen t to drive a foreign car on UK roads(with few exceptions) I am worried by the fact that though I am not resident in Uk now but have a UK licence still that this MAY cause me aggro with Uk police if stopped during a visit - since it might appear that I am a resident because of my UK licence. -
All - Crash for cash 20 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Given that so many cars are now having front and rear parking cameras fitted as either standard or an option, isn't it about time these became duel purpose? Why can't these expensive bits of technology also become driving cameras, running on a continuous loop and protecting drivers from these crooks, as well as being a very valuable tool to those investigating 'genuine' accidents and incidents? -

Any car - Buying a new car, what happens old car insurance 13 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Hope someone out there can give me some advice. If I have another 3 months car insurance to run on my current car, when buying insurance for the new car, do I have to use last year's No Claims number of years? Is there a way to make use of my 10-month worth of "no claim" so far for this insurance year?
