Are Jaguar XJS starting to appreciate in value?

  • I can't find what seems like a blockage in my 2001 Peugeot 306's cooling system. 5 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)
I've recently changed my 2001 Peugeot 306's water pump but the coolant doesn't seem to circulate. I've even removed the thermostat. One of the radiator...
  • Second hand car choice - first time buyer. 10 Dec 2009 (Forum)
My dad has a Ford Focus which I have never had a problem with but I'd ideally like something a bit smaller. I'm not too fussed diesel or petrol. Here's what I've found: Golf 1.6 S FSI 52,000m 3dr £4,500 and a 5 dr for £5,250 Peugeot 207 Hatchback, 1.4 HDi S 5d 2007/07 £4,700 - now I think this one is a very good price although the ad doesn't give the mileage. I know it's not a very powerful car but it boasts 62mpg.
  • Hyundai i20 (2009) - A worthwhile deal? 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
But it is eligible for the scrappage scheme so a thought has occurred to me that "she" could buy a new car, we could sell SWMBO?s 6 year old, 50k Yaris and end up with a new car for the boss, even if it is nominally registered in our daughter?s name. Also, there is a Hyundai dealer just a few miles from where we live (I know there are a few Northampton-ites on this forum, it's the one at Stoney Stratford).
  • Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 02 1.4 Engine Management System 14 Jul 2009 (Forum)
If anyone can offer any advice or suggest a way forward I would be very grateful Ideally, we would like the fault sorted and the light extinguished without a continual cash haemorrhage. The service manager at the main dealer did say that the engine in my wife?s car was only fitted for a period of about 18 months and the air mass meter needed to be specific to that engine. As I write this post, I wonder if it?s possible that the wrong part was fitted last time.
  • Touring Norway by car + Norway campaign April 1940 9 Aug 2008 (Forum)
There is also the Military History context of course and I could try following the route of the regiment into battle, from the troop ship landing area. That`s the context of my interest in Spospe`s tour of Norway.
  • `Respect` for cars? 5 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Grist to the mill, for a pre course reading student, about to go off to study Psychology, sociology and social policy. Respect for the car? Regards ;) (That`s a wink ;) NB Some car models changed
  • New Toyota Hi-Lux 3 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Interested to see HJ?s comments (Nov 22) about the new model he drove in Thailand and the introduction of a similar version to UK. It seems here in the Philippines we are definitely getting the best of the pick of the range.
  • Citroen Berlingo First Van 1.4 Petrol 2009 - 1.4 Berlingo Van Steering Knock & Tracking Issues 15 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Currently, on motorways when power on it's much better as if the thrust pulls steering into line but when powering off, though the steering wants to go straight and is dead straight, there's still this pull from the /n/s/f and a dipping sensation   - almost like the n/s/f tyre is running on its edge - if you get me. Again, currently, if I move from standstill the steering still seems loose but seems more solid the higher the speed - less loose that is.
  • Mazda MX 5 RF - Rust proofing. 2 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I bought a 2019 MX 5 6 months ago and I'm very pleased with it. I have since heard stories about all MX 5's being prone to rust because they aren't rust proofed in the factory. I don't know if that is accurate or not. At the moment there is some surface rust underneath and as I intend keeping the car I am considering having it professionally rust proofed.
  • Hyundai i30 2015 - i30 Door and boot issue 4 Nov 2024 (Forum)

  • Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307CC 2004 Hard Top roof won’t open 28 Sep 2023 (Forum)
I’m being told in most cases it should be a relatively cheap fix but concerned it could be something more serious and expensive. What are the common causes and fixes or should I avoid this car as it might cost me £1,000’s to fix?
  • Why can’t the Japanese make a good diesel engine 19 Apr 2023 (Forum)
Earlier they were not outstanding but reliable . Take the Hilux that refused to die for Clarkson. Now we hear about Subaru s dissasterous  attempts , Mazda CX5 destroying themselves and even the Yaris diesel with DPF breaking the tradition of peerless reliability. But at least Toyota accepted the criticism and arranged a generous claim arrangement.

  • N/A - Close All Doors When Filling Up! 7 Jan 2022 (Forum)
However the pump would not zero and then a tannoy announced "No. 4 close your doors!". When I went to pay I queried this and was told it was a new H&S regulation. I then queried the value of this as the windows were still open and was met up a blank look. Is anybody familiar with this regulation?
  • Vauxhall Zafira - Learner Driver Insurance - keep getting rejected 31 Oct 2021 (Forum)
I have a 2009 1.9l diesel Vauxhall Zafira and have had no problems in insuring it. I'm in my 50's with 15+ years of NCB. I have a son who's learning to drive, taking lessons but would like extra help by practising on my car. Number online quotes have rejected my application to add him on, including my own company, Hastings.
  • Ford fiesta mk6 2007 stiff gears when cold 23 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Hello, I have a 2007 fiesta zetec s 1.6 petrol. My gears feel notchy and stiff especially when the engine is cold. The gears feel stiff even with the engine off sometimes. If I hold the clutch down and put it into a gear it feels notchy but when I take it out of the gear and back into the gear again with the clutch still down it goes in a lot smoother.

  • Lottery Win? 28 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Another useless, but interesting question! What car(s) would you buy if you won the lottery? rules- No Macca F1 - everyone would! No Enzo - Coz you couldnt! This should be fun...... Mines would be: If i could buy one car only it would be a Ferrari 360 Spyder, because it just makes you ache for one.
