• SEAT Ibiza - Emissions Advice - MOT failure 30 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Ibiza 1.4 tsi fr 10 plate Before mot it had new spark plugs, ignition coils, fresh oil change and filter, clean air filter, had both oxygen sensors changed not that long ago. I’m guessing from the high HC that the car is running rich, unsure on what to change/check next. Only things i can think of to replace would be engine coolant sensor and fuel filter. I’m getting the cat checked tomorrow as well Any help would be great
• Corsa 1.3 cdti - Dual mass flywheel 16 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Like the clutch isn't disengaging  It also has some vibration when driving and also when it's in neutral  The vibration varies with the revs  I just want some confirmation it's definately the flywheel??  Is it a big job to do myself.? The car is only 300 quid and it's a run about so thinking of throwing a second hand one in. Any special tools or anything specific I need to do. Thanks
• Mercedies 2.1 CDI - Fuel Injector issue 28 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Attempting to assist  a friend replacing the copper seal on fuel injector as it was puffing mist into the engine compartment while running. injector removed and evidence of leak past distorted  seal, dressed the seat in the head with correct tool, replaced  the injector using new copper washer and stretch bolt, torqued to correct figure and then the correct degree to tighten. on start, found to be the same and when stretch bolt was removed coolant started pouring out, re did the job with thicker washer and same again, transpires the mist being ejected is coolant. does anyone know why engine coolant would be pumping out the bolt hole, cracked head or cylinder head gasket blown?
• 2002 Ford KA collection 1.3 - 2002 Ford KA radio not picking up any stations 11 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Can somebody please advise on what the problem might be or what I need to check to see what's going on, I've just bought a 02 plate ford KA for a cheap run about and realised the CD works fine but when switched back to AM/FM it doesn't pick up anything and completely silent no hissing or crackling when I stop it seeking like it's completely dead, not touched it yet or pulled anything out so would like to know if anyone knows why its not tuning in to any station or band?
• Vauxhall Corsa 1.3CDTi - Corsa won't rev over 1500rpm 22 Oct 2019 (Forum)
My 2007 Corsa has the engine fault light on and the engine will not rev over 1500 rpm. I have connected an ODB2 reader and it says no codes. There are no issues like rough running or smoke. This happened about 2 years ago and the AA thought it might be the throttle potentiometer and sprayed with switch cleaner. After a couple of days the fault cleared and hasn't happened until today.
• Peugout 208 petrol - Peugout, water under carpet behind drivers seat. 21 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I feel that I've removed much more water than I spilt so I'm now wondering if I have pierced something under the carpet? Is anyone able to tell me if any pipes or hoses with clear liquid in run under the carpet of a peugout 208 petrol car? She has only had the car for 6 weeks & I hate that I've done this
• Fuel, Ordinary and Super - MGZS 2017 13 Sep 2019 (Forum)
when cold and very very faintly "lumpy" with an occasional intermittent hesitation when warm After a week on momentum it feels as if it is running sweeter, so will continue the experiment, as now we are with Shell Energy at home, we get a 3p discount on fuel.. I have read the pros and cons before, and have usually used Asda,  as it is  a very high turnover petrol station very close to us.
• 10 year guarantee - sign of things to come? 12 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I've just seen an advert on TV here in Spain, which also appears on the website. A limited run of Fiat Tipo 1.4 "Street" models are up for grabs for €11,350 (obligatory 5 years of financing at over 10% APR adds another €4000 and you have to trade in some kind of working motor vehicle in return!)
• Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 04 1.6 EGR Exhaust Control Valve 26 Aug 2019 (Forum)
My Zafira A 1.6 life 04 plate has just started running a bit lumpy and jerky. I tend to loose power when at low speeds, then the exhaust emmision light starts to flash on the dashboard. After a few seconds the light goes out and the problem seems to clear itself.
• Toyota Corolla Verso T3 D4D year 2001 - Oil change on diesel low annual mileage 2225miles 2 Jun 2019 (Forum)
My wifes car is only used for short runs, I changed the oil & filter when she got it and since had done 2225 miles in a year almost to the day. So as we want this engine to last my question is, would it be wise to change the oil & filter now (yearly) despite low miles or leave it longer.
• Dacia Stepway - Random Misfire on Brand New Car 31 May 2019 (Forum)
Any ideas why this would happen on a brand new cat? Next step is I'll go into the dealer and kick up a fuss but to me the engine sounds and runs fine, I can't see or feel anything wrong?
• Ford Fiesta 2000 W 1.25 Zetec 16v - Won't start 3 May 2019 (Forum)
The battery is good and is charged regularly.  I have noticed that on turning the key to the second position, the fuel pump does not run to pressurise as it usually did and think this is probably significant (fuel pump fuse is OK). The fuel level is low, I put another 1-2 litres in just in case but it made no difference. Any suggestions of things to try would be much appreciated.
• Toyota Auris Hybrid - Range Counter reduces using EV 1 May 2019 (Forum)
As the level of fuel reduces so too will the range, which is all common sense. Why then, if the car is not running on petrol, does the range reduce? I may be missing something here but I'm left quite curious by what I've observed. Thank you. Derek
• Cortina GT MK1 motor in Lotus 7 - strange oil pressure 19 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Everything is very new and clean but my oil pressure is very low ( 0 to 5 psi) for the first 30-60 seconds on restart after sitting a few days. New high pressure pump acts same as old standard one but now 60 psi  & still running strong after pressure is up. Pump feeds remote HP-1 filter then routed to oil cooler and back through -8 tubing. 20W50 at 20 C temperature may move slowly at first getting to pressure sender at front of motor?
• Vauxhall Vectra C - Vauxhall vectra - Vectra Sri cdti 14 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Hi got a 2007 Vauxhall Vectra Sri cdti 16 valve and I have noticed it using more diesel than it should the computer says 36.7 and that's on a run off about 20 miles , went out to it and started and battery light stayed on although it's had rectifier in alternator , I switched off and started it again and light went out and stayed out? Also when I was driving along in sixth and accelerate it was a bit jerky , read codes and came up with p0621 generator warning lamp fault and p0008 generic engine position  performance bank 1  could this be timing issues as it starts ok in mornings thanks

• Focus/VW Golf - Medium Family Car Choice 13 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Have a maximum budget of £5k for a medium size 4 door petrol car as only doing about 5000 miles per annum running around town and being dads taxi locally for my kids. Have in mind tow cars a petrol Ford Focus (prefer new shape) or the VW Golf 1.4cc upwards petrol also. I know golfs design has not changed that much probably why I am biased to the focus.
• 10K Petrol Car 16 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Ideally, I am planning to keep the car until it celebrates 10 years/100.000 miles and then I will sell it or use it as part exchange. The car must be reliable and cheap to run with low depreciation over the years. Comfort, performance and equipment are extras that I value but they are not essential.  I've been thinking about these cars: Honda Civic 1.8 SE Plus Seat Leon 1.4 TSI FR What do you guys recommend?
