French Autoroute - car over 2m? 20 May 2010 (Forum)
I’m going to France next week and due to the fact I will have a top box and a bicycle on my roof (over 2m), I’ll be classified as an ‘intermediate vehicle’ according to the French Autoroute website. Will this make any difference on speeds or toll charges as I can’t see anything on the website? -

French Gazole. 2 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Just returned from a long trip into France, and I was tempted to fill up with Gazole (1.12) but I found a BP station locally that was selling Ultimate Diesel at 1.19 so I stuck to that (about 2 tank fulls). Was I being overly cautious or would I not have noticed any difference in my cars performance. -
Driving in Europe 18 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I?m about to take a few driving holidays to France and Holland and wondered if it?s still worth applying headlight adjusters? What are the chances of getting stopped if I just use the load adjuster and set it to the lowest position? It seems a bit uneconomical to have to apply fresh adjusters to the headlights every time I cross the channel. -

Dashboard fans 27 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Bought my car without the £1200 air conditioning option. As we are driving to France soon, I was considering one of those Halfords dashboard fans. Has anyone got one? They seem quite large and I can imagine they blow around the air quite effectively inside the car. But is it worth blowing around hot air? -
E5 Petrol cost in the UK 10 Oct 2021 (Forum)
If you want E5 petrol in the UK, you have to buy super 98 at an increased cost of 10 pence per liter. Yet in France regular E5 is still available at most petrol stations at an increased cost of 4 pence per liter compared to E10. Why are we paying more for our petrol? -

Going to France next month on the bike ! Anyway being joined by a friend from the North, we had a planning meeting the other night and he suggested that he travel down the M6 and then veer off along the A14 and join the M11 instead of the more traditional M1 route. -

Golf Headlight beam deflector templates 7 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone suggest an online website where I can find the outline to make up a headlamp beam deflector(s) for a VW Golf Mk4 - for driving in France. Unlike certain other manufacturers there is no template in the handbook. I know all I need is some black tape in the right place. -
Cheap cross-channel fares 31 Jul 2005 (Forum)
There was a recent thread regarding the viability of having cars serviced in France - obviously the fare cost would have to be factored-in. I'm doing the trip in reverse, and checking prices note that Eurotunnel do a short stay/overnight return fare of £30 (42 euros). Are there any better deals readily available, without travelling at unsociable hours? -

Opel or Vauxhall 15 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Is it just the badges or are there differences to the engines, ECUs etc? I am worried that if we break down in France, will the Opel dealer be able to deal with a Vauxhall? Will their diagnostics be able to read Vauxhall codes etc? -
Cheap engine oil 26 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Thought people might like to know that I was at Carrefour (big hypermarket) in Nice (S. France) last week and picked up their special offer of 7 litres of fully synthetic 5W50 oil for petrol or diesel engines, costing 22.25 euros (= £15.50 approx.). You may like to check to see if this is available in other branches of Carrefour.
