  Just had to buy father-in-law a defibrillator after his quote from Skoda for a Fabia battery. £235 inc fitting. I know it's an AGM battery, but blimey, that's still a fair chunk of money even though they are specially made for Skoda (according to the parts manager). Mind you the last time FiL bought a battery it probably had a Unipart logo on it.

  My car battery (now 4 years old) suffered a lot of abuse last winter - short journeys once a week with all the electrical equipment on (lights, heated front and rear screens). During this time, the indicator on the battery was usually red (i.e. discharged).

  2007 diesel 1600  about 65,000 miles on clock. Last Saturday left side lights on for 8 hours - had a flat battery.  RAC came got car started and 'checked'  told everything O.K.  Today after 2 hour drive warning came on battery low. It is the original battery and I wonder if it now needs to be changed.

  Any ideas what the normal life of a key battery might be? Would it be usual for the battery to pack up suddenly? (Sunday was an incredibly hot day) Could it be something other than the battery?   I've got a problem with my Peogeot 106 XND (N reg) and wondered if anybody else in here can confirm my suspicions. Intermittantly the battery experiences rapid discharge when the vehicle has just been parked for 20 mins or so. I've swapped out the battery (I own 2 106 XNDs!) and eliminated it as being the source of the problem. Battery is a 65Ahr battery.

I have been advised by an auto electrician that although my X5 has enough power in the battery to start and drive my car, it hasnt enough power in the cells to work all the electrics properly hence battery light comes on when using electrics.
