  Does this mean we can no longer drive in wet weather? And if we do how can a repetition of this be avoided? Awaiting reply from Volvo asking what possessed a designer to come up with such a basic flawed system. Any other incidences, comments and/or advice much appreciated.

  Hello,   I have a problem with my 1997 Volvo V40 1.9 TDI. The engine runs fine above about 1500 RPM but when I it is idling it begins to make a load ticking noise. It also loses power at low RPM's and can be difficult to start. I have tried changing the injector nozzles but it made no difference and all the glow plugs are in full working order.

  Nobody seems to stock replacement rubbers, the local motor factors dont even list the cylinder and Volvo want £80 for a replacement. I would rather replace the rubber on my own piston than get a used one from the dismantlers. Any advice as to what to do and where to get the part please ? Happy Christmas, Mike

  Hello all. I have a Volvo V40 2.0 Turbo S-Reg (1998). The car has climate control that has recently gone into fault mode. The cabin cooling fan doesn't work and the LEDs on the AC button flash - the user manual says this indicates a fault with the climate control system.

  Can anyone recommend a decent set of aftermarket rear parking sensors to fit the in-laws Volvo V50? There are stacks of them on t'internet and on Ebay specifically, most of which are (alarmingly) cheap, but the inlaws don't mind paying a bit more if it means they actually work. I have a cheap Ebay set on my S60 fitted by the previous owner, which work well when in close proximity to something, but emit very annoying "random" beeps when reversing in clear space.

  He has had a problem with the management light coming on, he has taken it back to dealer who has been very helpful including paying Volvo dealer to change all manner of sensors etc, who blamed the LPG but when it went to a independant arbitrator they stated that the light came on when the LPG was turned off anway. He had the car back for 3 days & light came on yet again....has anyone else had this problem and more to the point what was the solution?

  The following things have failed on my N plate 1995 1.8l Volvo 440: 1. Dipped head lights 2. Main beam 3. Blower motor 4. Rear electric windows 5. The lamp in the recirculation button 6. The SRS (airbag+pre-tensioners) warning lamp is now lit Everything else works (including dimmed headlamps).

  Three months ago I paid a 10% deposit for the new Volvo C70... They still can't give me a delivery date, or even a build date! The UK importer has absolutely NO IDEA when the car might turn up, other than hopefully sometime in October/November. Anyone seen any of these cars on the road?!

  I am looking to buy one of the following Coupes: 2nd hand, around '2000' year of manufacture: 1) Peugeout 406 Coupe (3 Litre SE V6 or the 2 Litre SE) or 2) Volvo C70 (not the convirtable) I've heard informal warnings against the Peugeout 406 Coupe because of poor reliability, especially Engine Management Unit failures and Air Conditioning problems but I would value your feedback now please.

  My Volvo S80 (Jan 2002 2.4 10V 140 bhp)has sometimes been stalling at idle, usually after a couple of miles from cold in slow traffic. It was serviced before Christmas, I reported this fault and asked if it was an idle valve fault.

  Hi Everyone, I've been considering a Volvo S70 as my next purchase, with a budget of up to £7k(ish), S-plate or younger. However, I notice that S80s are now becoming available at around this price - possibly more 'leggy' examples - though that doesn't really put me off.

  while i understand this policy varies form different insurance companies; what is the general conditions on the rule? i will be borrowing a friends old volvo estate to move furniture, while im not to concerned with the cost of replacing his car if an accident occurs (its worth tops £400) I dont want to run the risk of having no insurance. also - if i was to own his volvo (a real future possibility) - would i still be able to use my main cars insurance policy to cover use of the volvo?

  Not sure if this should go in Technical section. My S80 has been idling lumpily for about a month. My local Volvo specialist didn't even look at it; just said it was part that cost £500 to replace. Anyway, yesterday it got really bad and the Engine management system light came on. So I took it to a diagnostic place, who found some fault codes which made sense.

  My 1994L Volvo 960 (3.0 24v FS Estate) has suffered with air con problems since new. I've had all the major components replaced during the 3 year warranty period - and the system has been re-gassed regularly. Now it's failed yet again - with a 121 code flashing on the a/c button.

  I have a 1992 volvo 440 1.8i which has a fuel gauge fault. The gauge reads zero no matter how much fuel is in the tank. The sender has been tested and is ok. on comsulting the dealer, I was told that the are two problem earth connections on this model which can cause gauges to read incorrectly - these were checked & cleaned to no avail.

  Why and when do you change your car? We can' take up our minds as to wether or not downsize to a new Fiesta or Up from the 2003 Volvo V70. It's running fine with 172k on the clock and not worth much as a trade in I imagine. Keep the Volvo or change to one of Fiesta or Up?
