A total of 300 different cars and motorbikes can be seen in action on the hillclimb every day throughout the Festival of Speed. Mercedes-Benz will be celebrating 120 years in motorsport with a selection of its most significant racers, from the pre-war Silver Arrows through to the latest F1 models, while Bentley will be showing off the new GT3-R version of its Continental GT, its 572bhp V8 making it the fastest-accelerating production Bentley of all time. -

To prove just how healthy the market is, records were broken for the most expensive cars sold at auction, the Mercedes-Benz W196 racing car, and NART Ferrari 275GTB convertible, both which sold for approaching £20 million a piece. Many will still say that classic cars are still the best investments money can buy because of their increasing values, but I like to think it's simpler than that - you can drive a classic, and visit new and exciting places in it. -

John Lennon's first car - a Ferrari 330GT - to sell at Goodwood 10 May 2013 (News)

Joining the John Lennon Ferrari at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale are a number of other important motor cars, including the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 in which five-times Formula 1 World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio won two grands prix on his way to his second World Drivers' Championship. Among other cars on offer are the 1955 Maserati 300S Sports-Racing Spider that finished third in the 1955 Sebring 12-Hours (estimate £3.5 million - £4.5 million); a 1934 Alfa Romeo 8C-2300 'Le Mans' Tourer (estimate £1.4 million - £1.8 million); and an example of the ultimate Ferrari from the 1960s – the 1966 Ferrari 500 Superfast – that is one of only six right-hand drive models made (estimate £800,000 - £1 million). -

New Face for BMW 3 Series 29 Jun 2001 (News)
