  • New MG TF styling 15 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I know the old MGF wasn't much of a looker but why is the new MG TF styled to look like an 80's Opel Manta which itself was derived from the 70's Vauxhall Cavalier. I don't understand all this retro styling, if I want a car to look old I'll buy an old car !
  • Your thoughts on contemporary car magazines? 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
They don`t meed my needs at all. Problem is that I can remember reading mag`s decades back where there was great technical detail, such as clutch plate diameters - gearing and so on. (and so avoid that HA van with its 6" clutch while competitors had 7".. (maybe. memory) That said, I found the latest Car Mechanics a breath of fresh air under it`s new Editor - introducing engine management systems - in the last issue.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 Vibration at speed/when braking 8 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Also there is no vibration from the steering during cornering at any speed. However at low speeds there is a regular noise coming from the driver?s side front wheel that gets faster as speed increases. It?s like a short scraping/clicking. I?ve had the wheel off and seems to me like the brakes are binding a little when I spin the disc. There?s no play in the inner and outer cv joints.
  • Shark tooth flint attacks tyre + horse hoof Quiz 29 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I remember advice from years gone by to check tyres for `flints`. We were prepared as boys in the 50`s I suppose - carrying around a pen knife with one of those thick long prongs attached in case a horse got a stone caught in it`s hoof. What innocent days. Think what could be interpreted if you were caught on the street or entering a well known accessory store with a long prong in your pocket like that..
  • Repair of Winter roads 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I guess due to the combination of snow, ice and salt, small potholes and cracks now resemble craters on the moon, and when it?s rained there?s no telling whether they are an inch deep or a foot deep. There are sections of road where it is only really safe to drive along at either a snails pace or to pass the potholes on the other side of the road.
  • Car stereo recommendation please 15 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I have a Ford S-Max and I want to have Ipod compatibility and the ability to play MP3's that I have burned on to a CD. When I say Ipod compatibility, ideally I am looking for a replacement HU that has a cable coming from the BACK of the head unit so that I can hide all the cables to the Ipod.
