  • MoT Data for Wakefield 6 May 2014 (News)
The most common cause for a failure is lighting and signalling, though it affects 3 per cent fewer cars in WF areas than on average across the nation. The same can't be said for suspension and brakes though, which are 12 and 15 per cent more problematic here than on average, respectively.  Top of the manufacturer table is Triumph, but very few were tested.
  • MoT Data for Hull 6 May 2014 (News)
Hull’s tables are full of red numbers, which spells bad news for car owners in HU postcodes. Almost all of the common areas tested have higher failure rates than the average when tested in Hull, and pass rates for almost all model years and manufacturers are below average.
  • MoT Data for Enfield 6 May 2014 (News)
The tables for Enfield (EN) are very green – meaning excellent pass rate performance across the board. Only Romford has a better overall pass rate then Enfield. So it’s good news for car owners in EN areas. Across all years of manufacturer and all makes and models the pass rates are higher in Enfield, often significantly so. That’s even the case when you look at the poorer performing makers at the bottom of the table.  The common failure items table contains only green numbers too, meaning a lower chance of failing across all the common items.
  • MoT Data for Durham 6 May 2014 (News)
. Most of the causes for an  MoT  failure are a little less likely to affect cars tested in DH postcodes, although suspension and braking issues are about 8% and 9% more common than the national average, respectively. Steering, however, is significantly more likely to cause an problem in Durham, with steering related issues accounting for 4.3% of failures, 27% more than the average elsewhere.
  • The MoT Files: The 10 worst manufacturers 6 May 2014 (News)
It’s important to bear in mind that there are a number of ‘zombie manufacturers’ in this list, with the cars continuing even though the companies have long since died. However, this note aside, the majority of firms in the bottom 10 are still very much alive and some of the results surround some of the UK’s most popular cars.

Danger of Retained V5s 9 Jul 2008 (News)
This means that the buyer does not become the official 'Registered Keeper' of the vehicle for 4 - 6 months and sometimes longer. Now it has come to my notice that some cars sold in this way are being repossessed after it turns out that the 'fleet' did not pay for them outright with the customer's money, but instead bought them on HP then reneged on the payments. If the source of the car to whom the customer paid their money then goes into liquidation, there is virtually no chance of the customer getting his or her money back.
