  • Most fun for £15K 15 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I need something that will carry 2.5 people (2 adults and small person), some luggage ... so no superminis and I but don't need the size of a Passat.... but must be fun to drive (do 35K a year) and not use up too much juice... Current front runner is 140bhp Celica - just under £15K from www.ukcarbroker.co.uk. What else should I test drive ? ! :-)

  • 5th gear and RR Phantom test 20 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Sorry to all those of you who are, like me, fed up with constant foglight threads but couldn't let this one go...... OK so it was a little bit misty but was that R-R driving round with its front fogs on illegally or are those actually the dipped head lights? If the latter why spend £1/4m quid so you can drive around looking like a duh-brain Nova/reverse baseball cap refugee.
  • Mercedes CLK230 Komp. Warning Message 19 Mar 2003 (Forum)
This morning, no malfunction and no record in the malfunction display. I have an indicated 6000 miles to next service, which with my current driving profile will not be for some 3-6 months. Advice please?
  • Tyre wear on Audi A4 11 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I calculate my 2002 2.0 front wheel drive A4 will need replacement front tyres around 25 000 miles. Nothing unusual in that. However, I checked the tread depth on the rears they look like they will need replacing at the same time. All other 2 wheel drive cars I have had gave around twice the mileage on the un-driven wheels compared to the driven ones.
  • 2 new tyres - on the front or rear? 7 Apr 2002 (Forum)
It appears that when fitting just 2 new tyres these should be put on the rear, regardless of whether the car is front or rear wheel drive. My car has front wheel drive, and I would have thought that new tyres on the front would give better steering, better braking and aquaplane resistance in the wet, and a lower risk of a puncture (which from experience I prefer in the rear).
  • P reg Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V 17 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I have an intermitent fault, when driving and applying the foot brake, the warning lights on the instrument panel for ABS and TC light up and will not go out till the engine is switched off. Sometimes the fault happens two or three times a day, sometimes i can drive for three weeks with no fault.
  • Peugeot Insurance 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
The code should be 0845, NOT 0870. Secondly, although it is 'comprehensive', it does NOT cover you to drive other vehicles on a third party only basis. Furthermore, on the basis of 'caveat emptor', although I was prepared to pay the extra for this (just so that we could shuffle our sons' cars around to get out of the drive), but the insurance company won't allow you to do so.
  • Van tyres are tough! 25 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I read previous comments about how delicate car tyres are and how driving over curbs can ruin them. Realised for years I have been driving my van tyres over high curbs and accross rubbish covered building areas with no problems despite having economy brand tyres. Think the reinforced structure intended for load carrying, the tread that is deeper than car tyres and sidewalls with thicker rubber worth paying £40/tyre.

  • Citreon C3 Aircross - Advice on order of process 11 Jan 2025 (Forum)
Due to being hospitalised for three months almost 2 years ago and my recovery to "normality" has been long and slow, my car has been sat in my garage all that time and never moved and off the road for both tax and insurance,  Ironically I bought it brand new just a few weeks before everything went to pot,   My recovery to my new normal state has meant that although now that I am in a better state to drive, I am unable to use the brake with my right foot as I cannot lift high enough from the accelerator.  After a driving assessment a few weeks ago it was agreed that I could drive again with a push control in place of the brake.
