    Recently purchased this 6 yrs old, 59,000m car.  Due to the well-known problem with some Ecoboost engines failing due to coolant system component flaw (which Ford will compensate for if occurs), I asked Ford for a free inspection of the coolant system on the ground that if it fails it will likely cost them much more than the cost of the inspection to rectify (in some cases a new engine).

    I am a bit stumped. I have a 2003 Nissan Micra 1.2 se. It has been overheating. Today, I topped up the coolant and ran it on idle, after a bit the expansion tank was to the top and it was spitting coolant out. I checked the thermostat and it is definitely knackered. The fan was not kicking in so I will change the temp sensor too.

  Hey all, My Astra, W reg has not long had both its radiator and water pump replaced, yet two weeks after having the pump fitted, the water/coolant had gone down to about 3/4 of an inch full. I'm getting a bit annoyed now as its getting too expensive to run if it keeps having these issues. There is no gunk under the oil cap so I'm thinking and hoping its not the head gasket, but I have noticed some water coming out of the exhaust (trickling), not sure if that's normal/relevant or not.

  Hi I've decided to renew the coolant in my Fiesta 1.3 Flight since whats already in there contains what looks like dust, rust flakes and an oily surface sheen. Can I just check that all I need to do is open the radiator plug at the bottom of the radiator, collect everything that runs out and discard, then use a garden hose to flush it out.

  I just changed the coolant temperature gauge on my car and it made the temp. needle work again. Yay me. I'd already replaced the thermostat but that didn't fix the problem and, thanks to Haynes and some help from this forum, I managed to successfully flush the rad/engine block, replace the coolant sensor and then refill the coolant with some G12!

  Hi all, I have a mysterious water leak on my Audi Coupe Gt 2.0i 5 cylinder. I changed the coolant last night. Then I ran the engine to remove any air. I then went to the shops and after about one minutes driving I noticed a red light flash on the dashboard indicating low coolant. I immediately pulled over and noticed one of the hoses had come off(going from bottom of radiator to engine was off). obviously water had leaked out.

  Additionally, I noticed that the engine when starts is rotating at higher RPMs that it used (+- 1100RPM, previously 900 RPM). Can this be any how related? How can I realise what is faulty, the coolant temperature sensor? The gauge? I heard that the sensor on MK IV has some faulty connection and gets easily loose. I would like to check this on my car as well. Anyone knows where is this sensor placed, colour, size, etc?

  The day before I went on a short trip, the "water level" indicator on the car facia showed that the coolant level required topping up. It's a simple DIY job which takes about 10 minutes. Yesterday, just before I had completed the 80 mile journey, the "water level" indicator came on again. Once I had parked-up, I noticed a quantity of coolant on the driveway.

  I hooked up the appropriate hoses and flushed through the bits I could with a hose but the cylinder block will not be fully flushed. I filled up 70/30 with water/coolant. It still looks pretty watery in there though. My quaestions are would a week without proper coolant / diluted coolant cause a problem? Should I use distilled water? I'd prefer to though the water here is soft but not sure it' mineral content.

  It did prior to the blowup.Now my repairer has had the car back to bleed the system on numerous occasions, the last time using vacuum equipment. I have called out green flag on several occasions. As I type the coolant has been discharging through the pressure cap on the coolant tank after a short drive (8 miles)The water pump,thermostat,coolant tank pressure cap are all new. The temp gauge is reading way below the horizontal.

    But after a month or so, the engine started overheating and the coolant was boiling, but none leaked out. It seemed to sort itself out and there was no problems for a while, until recently.  Again, the engine is overheating and the coolant is boiling.  This only started happening when I was driving in the UK a couple of weeks ago (2x 250mile journeys a week apart).

  Hello, I have coolant leak in my Nissan xtrail t32. In around 500km coolant is going from Max to Min which is around 250ml. System was pressure tested and there was no visible leaks however there is some staining around water pump so I presume it's the source of the leak.

  i have a 2009 citroen c3 with a 1.1 engine recently when starting the car first thing it would revv upto about 2500 - 3000 rpm and then drop down also the heater was blowing cold, i have had it on a modis scanner and it says the rpm is at 2000+ even when its dropped back to idle, and the oil and coolant temp is constantly at -40 degrees so i changed the coolant temp sensor and this has made no differace any help would be apperciated thanks mike
