help! big problems with 306 HDI engine 3 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Was soo worried about this, I got the car towed home by greenflag. We have re-checked everything was aligned as we took the parts off again, we just can't work out why its doing this?! I've got some questions about this: What is the significance of the little embossed markings on the camshaft pulley, which looks like this: \ . / Does the fuel pump, which is has a sproket, require timing? -

ABI category C and D writeoffs explained 20 Oct 2016 (Forum)
The independent inspection normally takes place at the vendors home or premises and the all important chassis inspection is done on a pair of drive on ramps circa 1930s design. Another cheap option is a four wheel alignment check, carried out at any good tyre centre. If possible, ask to see photos of the vehicle pre repair, most salvage now comes direct from insurance websites so photos should be easily available. -

Bentley Azure - Bentley dealer can't get it right 30 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Twp weeks ago the original dealership sent someone to inspect the car and the comments that he made to me when seeing the car are not directly aligned to his written statement. Nevertheless his statement which was sent "without prejudice" highlighted issues to the paintwork and he also noted the radiator dent. In truth the report was scant with relevant information. -
VW Polo (2002) - VW Polo poor idling 9 Apr 2014 (Forum)
From what I've seen though, this isn't the typical "jumped timing chain" symptom, as the performance gets poor at high rpm. This may tally with the metallic clack noise. (Test: check timing alignment marks) 6) My real fear 2: Burned out valve. (Test: Compression test) What do you think my next steps should be? The car's 12 years old, and I don't want to spend dead money on it. -
VW - Can you trust Volkswagen dealers - a warning 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Upon delivery of the vehicle I noticed the vehicle's passenger off-side door was showing very bad paint fade and scratches in the sunlight, which only seemed more obvious in brighter light. In addition to this on closer inspection the bumper appeared to be badly aligned with an uneven gap, which seemed likely to be a sign of previous frontal damage. I returned the following day to have these issues looked at. Obviously this was of great inconvenience, having to return a long distance to sort out issues that should have sorted before collection. -
BMW 5 Series F11 - BMW second hand issues 23 Feb 2015 (Forum)
1) Wheels – had not been prepared correctly, there were some scrapes and chips, particularly on the rear nearside wheel, 2) Rear Bumper – there were fish eye defects in numerous places on the rear bumper, 3) Front Bumper – there were 2 grazes on both the front corner and nearside lower, both around 3-4” long, 4) Mirror surround – there were deep scratches in the paint finish as if a person had scrapped it with a screwdriver, 5) Stone chips – there were numerous stone chips (12-15) on the vehicle which had not been touched up, some of which were completely through the paintwork, 6) Dent – there was a small 10p size dent on the offside rear quarter, 7) Bird dropping stains – there were numerous bird dropping stains both on the roof, rear nearside quarter and front offside door, 8) Boot lid – the boot lid spoiler was raised 15 -20mm above the roof line. I initially thought the spoiler was loose, but it transpired the boot lid was out of alignment on the offside causing the glass and spoiler to sit proud. I immediately called Matthew as it was now around 1 pm as I was extremely disappointed with the state of the vehicle. -

Perhaps he would like to comment on the fairness of my comments ??? (by the way, I dropped into a friends garage ? alignment, tyre pressures, tyre wear all seemed normal and correct so far as he could tell quickly.)
