A Grand Monday: Renault Espace 19 Feb 2018 (News)
Chrysler Europe's parent company, PSA, had other ideas, though, and deemed that the model would be too expensive to put into production, allowing Matra to keep the design. Matra, in turn, approached Renault with what was effectively an off-the-peg production-ready car that would introduce a new concept to the car market, and the Renault Espace was born. Thirty-four years on, and the multi-purpose vehicle, or MPV, is a staple of most manufacturers' model ranges. -
A Grand Monday: Austin Montego 1.6L Estate 4 Dec 2017 (News)
s=carAndClassic&id=C939093" target="_blank">this week's offering will break your resolve? For this week, it's the Maestro's sister car, the Montego, that gets its moment in the sun - a rare estate, finished in that wonderful Eighties Austin-Rover hue of Rattan Beige, with brown cloth upholstery. Who wouldn't? Being a 1.6-litre, it's full on suburban spec - exactly the kind of car your mate from school's dad would have had, complete with optional radio-cassette player to keep up with the Joneses. It's a seven-seater, too, meaning it's the perfect usable classic for those with large families, or mothers-in-law that they prefer to install in the car backwards. Being a Channel Island car, this one's a genuine low-miler, although an island life suggests to us that, even with just 30,000 miles on the clock, it would be prudent to give it a thorough once-over for underbody corrosion, not least because the owner even admits that the bodywork will 'need attention' - it looks okay in the pictures, but we'd ask for several close-ups before jumping on a ferry to Guernsey. -

Hyundai RM16 concept previews hot ‘N’ models 3 Jun 2016 (News)
The RM16 follows the RM14 and the RM15, which were unveiled in 2014 and 2015 respectively and were designed to “test high-performance technologies and refine them for use in future high-performance cars.” It’s a two-seat, mid-engined concept with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine developing 300PS, and a body that uses carbon-fibre reinforced plastic to reduce weight. That’s the same material that BMW uses in the i3 and i8 electric cars, but while in those it’s primary purpose is bumping up fuel efficiency, in the Hyundai it’s to improve handling. -

A Grand Monday: Porsche 924S 17 Feb 2014 (News)
The Porsche 924S is one misunderstood car. Those in the know, will preach for hours on end about how brilliant these cars are - with balanced handling, punchy performance, and all the marque DNA you'd ever need. You see, despite the the 'van engine' jibes (untrue, by the way), the 924S was all-Porsche, thanks to the fitment of the slant-four, first seen in the 944. -
