  • Nissan X-Trail (2007 - ) - J D power 2009 xtrail 14 Jun 2009 (Forum)
But at any rate both a decent to drive. Economy, i don't know how these owners drive, but 30mpg towing 1330kg, high 30's solo (max 42mpg old model) previously, and oddly with the heavier more powerful new xtrail i get more, the trip computer is showing just under 42mpg at the moment, best i had 44mpg! That's good isn't it?
  • Falsely accused by a neighbour 31 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Basically, having seen damage on his car (only had a couple of months and bought new) he's looked at mine and seen a mark on my front n/s bumper that has been there for 2 years. At this point he's clearly become quite deranged, and failed to notice the damage to his car is a pencil than gouge mark that looks for all the world like a supermarket trolley (his wife parks the car in a supermarket car park whilst at work every morning for a few hours).

But the euphoria of coming out of Ramsey around the hair pin and through the SPEED UNRESTRICTED signs until you hit the down hill to Creg-Ne-Ba cannot be put into into words. (Last time I was on the bike the 60 limit now in force from just after Kate?s cottage, before Creg-Ne-Ba, until you hit the outskirts of Douglas wasn?t there) and it spoils the end of the run. But what a run, I?m starting to get to be an old git, but the ability to throw the bird around and hunt down R1s, (you wouldn?
  • ?Safer? cars are more dangerous for othe 29 Mar 2007 (Forum)
The increase in cars? average height means that they are more likely to override the stronger parts of another car?s shell in a side impact, increasingly the likelihood of killing occupants. The study concludes: ?Improvements have come at a price: a more modern car tends to be more aggressive than an older car when in collision with another car.?
  • Oil changing - myths and urban legends 8 May 2005 (Forum)
Now it gets complicated, the engine start procedure ...... remove the spark plugs, coil packs and battery - remove the seats and rear boot/tailgate - ensure Octane Booster is removed from tank as it might spontaneously start the car when you are not ready - take the drive belts off - turn engine over, s....l....o....w....l....y - engine should be turned over at least 67 times to ensure adequate Oil film coverage. 11. Return all components and start engine whilst whistling the theme tune to TITANIC ................ if you are VERY lucky the engine will not shoot a con-rod through the block (this normally happens to MY96 cars which are MicaPink in colour) - but ALL Model Years can be affected equally as bad. 12.
  • Those whom the Gods would destroy... 10 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Lifting the hood reveals a compartment stuffed satisfyingly full of V-8 engine. No catalyser nonsense, just one of those smog pumps that California introduced in the mid 60's. Just need a couple of surfboards in the back and it's pure Beach Boys. Must be one of the last true muscle cars before OPEC and that Georgia peanut farmer with his 55 mph limit conspired to kill off the genre.
  • Road rage - moi? 8 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Youngest daughter reappeared on the scene to say that daughter number one had been arrested with a friend?s teenage lad. Scrambled out of the school grounds after her to where the children were being held by a local policeman. Big lad, large gun, nice smile. He was charging them with riding two on a bike on the roadway.

  • Hit parked car (maybe), left scene, but reported 1 Jan 2024 (Forum)
However, looking at the road layout in the cold light of day I don’t see how I would have hit the bollard so must assume a non-zero probability that I have hit and damaged someone’s parked car and then left the scene. And if this was the reality then in addition to it being s***ty to damage someone else’s car, there may be cctv, witnesses and so on. Given this and in an effort to take responsibility, I made a police report online this morning (within 24 hours) explaining the above and that I cannot be certain that I didn’t damage a parked car.
  • Toyota Auris - Honda Civic - Civic 1.8 VTEC 9th Gen (2012) vs Auris 1.6 VMATIC (2013) 13 Oct 2017 (Forum)
As some of the regulars here will know, I had after a lot of research and deliberation, decided to buy a Civic. Previously, I had taken a test drive on a 2009 1.4 VTEC Type- S Civic. The driving experience on that car was quite good. It seemed very grippy. Also the rear spolier appeared as a thin line in the rear view mirror, and didn't seem to obstruct visibility much.
  • Ford Focus Zetec 5 Dr 1.6 Tdci (2011 mark3) - Control panel lights and cAN bus issues 23 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I am having problems with control panel lights on my 2011 mark 3 Ford Focus Zetec 5 door hatchback 1.6 tdci. (32000 miles). Purchased s/h November 2014. When the ignition is switched on, the halo light surrounding the radio on/off button, and the hazard warning switch, along with the heating controls, the steering wheel controls, and external lights switch (but NOT the radio control panel switches) all light up.

  • Nissan Almera Tino auto late 2003 - Steering wheel vibration at 60-65mph plus,not w/b? 20 May 2010 (Forum)
There is no wheel bearing wear sound, no other symptoms. Just this judder at 65mph through the s/wheel, not in the rest of the car. Two garages have had a visual check on the ramp - nothing seen. Specialist place told me to come back for a free check and rebalance, but looking at the rims I see the stick on weights are all still on, nothing's fallen off.

  • Audi A3 + S3 (2008 - ) - crash damage not repaired properly 15 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi All, Unfortunately someone rear-ended my 7 month old A3 S-line in June of this year. They hit me at about 20mph I would say. I was able to drive the car to the Audi dealer, and the next thing I knew, it was at the "approved" Audi repairer for the region.
  • Advice needed re accident claim 16 Feb 2009 (Forum)
My 18 year old son who had just passed his driving test 4 months prior (so you can imagine what premium we paid to have him insured fully comp £££££'s). My son got out of his car, somewhat dazed to see what had happened and what damage had been caused. My son drives a Ford KA and the back end had been pushed in. The other party who had caused the damage was another young lad, not long passed his test and told my son he was sorry and that he had swerved to avoid another car.
  • FIAT Punto (1994 - 1999) - Garage stripped engine - do I have to pay 12 Dec 2008 (Forum)
They say, we didn't get time to put it back together yesterday, we've got your number and will call you when it?s ready, the guy working on it has had to go out for parts, and inform me that there are labour costs to pay, yes, I appreciate you had to diagnose the fault, how much is it. They tell me it is 2 hours labour.
  • Hideous Insurance Renewal problem 7 Nov 2008 (Forum)
and would not listen to my argument that this was not actually choice since the first was based on an erroneous belief that au pairs are employees which drove the premium to an unrealistic rate or the second where I get the money back but will face hideous problems on renewal of trying to insure a young driver with a record of insurance refused. I have spoken to the insurer?s customer complaints department who tell me that they have voided the original policy and they are investigating. I have asked them to make it clear to me that they have taken this decision of their own volition.
  • Honda Accord Tourer Diesel: 20k report 13 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Anyway, I don't really like them getting below 3 mm. I've replaced them with Pirelli P6000 Powergy?s, and the new tires have completely cured the mild tramlining that I was experiencing with the 17 inch alloys. I never found it annoying, but now it's simply not there. It's also marginally reduced the road noise, which is nice.
  • 10k in an 'ugly duckling' ? 28 Jul 2005 (Forum)
I'm now averaging just under 40MPG (28/29 in my old 1.8T Golf) in mixed driving conditions from the trip computer and this rises into the 40's if I do significant motorway mileage. Others will probably do better than this as I consider myself pretty heavy footed. The engine is an absolute stonker and is starting pull strongly from even lower down now in 3,4 and 5 .
