  • peugeot 306 - peugeot 306 hdi (2000) front airbags deployed 23 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi, i recently had the misfortune of having a light front end collision in my 306 hdi,  external damage would be an easy repair for myself,  however, both the passenger and drivers airbag were activated and are still in the deployed state, my main problem is that the engine will not turn over on the key, i have located the front impact sensor with red cap found to the rear of the battery tray, and pressed it to reset, but still no joy,  i assume i will have to replace airbags before i can get engine running ? any info regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
  • BMW X3 - Faulty Turbo Diesel 15 Feb 2011 (Forum)
My X3 2006 (56 plate) recently lost power whilst driving so I dropped it off to the garage for an assessment - Just received a diagnosis that is a 'caked' breather (D06F) and that this is has cuased a failure with the turbo diesel. The bill is £3000 to replace everything and get the car running. The car has done only 35000 miles and is used by wife a a runaraound - Is this a common fault and can i get BMW to cover the cost of the repair as it seems to be a recurring issue with X3s and the turbo diesel engines?
  • Mercedes-Benz E-Class W123 - Mercedes W123 Pierburg 175CD Carburettor 14 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Good day. I have a 1985 W123 running on M102 2.0 engine on Pierburg 175CD carburettor with a red damper cover. I notice that my car is severely underpower and heavy on fuel (less than 18MPG average). Also, when i accelerate in full, there will be a lot of black smake coming out from the exhaust.
  • Ford Mondeo - Mondeo 2.2 TDCI MAF idle value and Idle speed 14 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Reading between different sites, iv come to the conclusion it should be in the region of 7 g/s@800rpm . Sensor shows 2 g/s when engine is not running and 14 g/s @ 835rpm(idle). That brings me to the next problem, the engine idle should be 800 rpm, would a faulty MAF cause this to rise?
  • Vegetable oil fuel - why no new cars utilising? 13 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi folks, Was thinking today, if it is possible to run a car on vegetable oil (with or without also having separate diesel tank), why is no one producing / selling new cars that can do this? I mean its environmentally friendly and sustainable.... yet the only way to do it at the moment is a) risk it on cars by mixing it with diesel in the same tank, or b) get a second tank and a specialised system...
  • Morris Minor Classic Car 13 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have joined the Morris Minor Owners Club and have been a member of a small motor club in my "village" for a number of years. Does anyone on the forum run one? What should I look out for? Rust obviously, anything else? I am hoping to buy one that has already been restored and requires little or no work on it, apart from servicing. I am watching the MMOC website, plus carand classic.co.uk, and classiccarsforsale.co.uk, with occasional dips into Ebay and Auto Trader.
  • Focus 1.6 Petrol 2000 - Thermostat 1 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Recently I've tried fitting a new thermostat, overheated, replacing the water pump and thermostat, overheated, and now I'm pretty much lost! Still runs but only without a thermostat fitted. I was just wondering whether any one has seen or heard of this problem before?   Cheers
  • Ford Fiesta - deposits 21 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I went down to have a chat with the dealer to sort things out, only  to find he was using the car to run around in. Q. have I got any grounds to ask for my deposit back. I fill that the Dekra report is now not worth the paper it is written on. The millage on the report  and what it is now will be differant and I don't how the car has been treated.
  • Mercedes-Benz ML-Class - Headlight misting 14 Dec 2010 (Forum)
I removed the units sealed the edges with silicone sealant dried them out again and it returned once more. My local garage said run the car with main beams on for 1/2 an hour but that did not remove all of the moisture, only in the area of the main beam bulb. have you any suggestions I do not want to pay £400 for new units there must be an easier way the car is 6 years old and apart from this problem the lights are pristine.
  • any - buying a car that's been towing - would you? 24 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I keep seeing nice models on 'trader but then see that they've got a towbar fitted. Am i right to run a mile at the thought? I know there's a world of difference between towing a little trailer to the tip, or a small dingy and a huge twin axle caravan. I always kind of assumed that I'd never get a straight story from the dealer about what had actually been towed......
  • Fast Tracking 10 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The only winners are the companies that allow this. Fills their coffers. It causes longer slower queues in the long run and makes certain peoples blood boil. So I would like to see the practice stop.
  • Fiesta Finesse 1999 1.3 - Side/rear lights constantly on 2 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hello. My wife recently purchased a run about for work and the dipped and rear lights are constantly on in dipped mode when she puts the ignition on. They switch off as soon as she turns the ignition off, so it's not draining the battery (yet) but I would love to know if there is a way to put it back to 'normal'.
  • Suzuki 1,9 TD 75 HP with XUD9BSD and Lucas pump - Poor top speed initial accelaration lag 1 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hi, a/m engine is fitted to a Suzuki jeep. seems to run well but top speed with pedal on the floor is down to 140 Km an hour (without head wind) and revs mx 4200/4300. There is a gap between accelerating start and actual accelaration start on the pump.
  • Ford Puma 1.4 1998 - Puma cutting out and loss of power 31 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Auto-electrician couldn't find anything wrong with it and it has had a service and no idea what is up.  It has now died.  It lost power and refused to run for more than about 2 seconds.  It fires every time on re-starting, but then just cuts out after a second or so.  Any one any ideas about where to start?  I am worried about being ripped off senseless by a garage and spending a fortune on a 12 year old car with 126k on the clock.

  • Odd "moment" yesterday. 16 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Early morning doing the school / work run. Waiting at a busy roundabout, the vehicle entering from the preceeding turning lit a nearside light as doing so. Something "clicked" upstairs and I started the process of pulling out. It passed the exit and kept coming, I stopped and looked again, wondering what had caused the "Ok to set off" reaction, expecting to see that the silly SOB had indicated.
  • Ford Fiesta ghia 97 - tailgate release & door open indicator lights don' 24 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I assume all the problems have one cause as they all happend at the same time. The car runs fine.  I have noticed from reading posts that my car might have remote central locking, I have never had a remote key for the car, only a red one and one black coded key with the red bit at the top.
  • 2002 focus 1.6 zetec - ford focus burning smell 9 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Can anyone assist with an occasional problem with my 2002 1.6 Focus zetec. The car has covered 125000 and usually runs perfectly but just lately the steering wheel sometimes wobbles at 50mph plus and after stopping there is a strange almost burning smell around the car. This cannot be smelt from inside. The car seems to otherwise drive ok whilst this is happening.
  • 1.8 nissan almera auto 2002 - new exhaust now engine management light on 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Back to KwikFit - diagnosed O2 sensor.  Simply re-set it so light off for a bit but came on again.  Tried running it for a few days to see if it would re-set itself.  No luck. Going to take it back to KwikFit - they caused the problem after all. What should I be asking them to do?  Is this a new sensor(s) issue?
  • Mazda 3 - 2009 Mazda 3 1.6 Sport Petrol - Poor Consumption 8 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I really expected a bit more, from my mx5 1.8 I regularly get over 40MPG. I know it's marginal, but it's put me right off the car and is fairly expensive to run - anyone got a diesel Mazda 3?
