• Skoda Octavia - New or used 15 Feb 2018 (Forum)
  since the accident I have sometimes problem changing gears due to back ache, do you think dsg will be better, my mileage is about 80 to 90% motorway Octavia suits my needs as it is a big boot decent sized car with good fuel efficiency. Need some suggestions as to what would be better, Financially whatever i take will be financed but I will get it at 3%.
• Ford Fiesta - Lack of power on cold start, low revs & stalling 31 Jan 2018 (Forum)
  The revs drop dangerously low when stopping at junctions and traffic lights, on the brink of stalling! Also, the average MPG has had a notable drop from 33 to 22 so fuel economy is very poor. Already tried replacing the battery, no warning lights are shown on the dashboard. Could it be a blown head gasket? I’m led to think because of the popping noises and lack of power.

  F15 30A - Ignition coil - downstream oxygen sensor - upstream oxygen sensor - cylinder injector 1 - cylinder injector 2 - cylinder injector 3 - cylinder injector 4 - purge canister solenoid valve - diesel  injection pump - EGR + butterfly electrovalve - carburettor or throttle housing heater resistor - all  or nothing solenoid valve (EGR) - diesel fuel heater  Could it be a faulty ignition coil. Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks matt

    Took it back to dealers and the code was P0441.. the dealership tried fobbing us off and said its just dust so we will reset it and it will be okay.   However after speaking to my mechanic he says its to do with the fuel injection system. The dealership arenot offering to fix only refund. So  i best of just getting a refund? Does this mean the car could be really faulty?  I wanted it to last for 4 years with just general maintaince and things like that.

  Now that my A3 1.9TDI MY2000 (distributor type fuel injection) is nearing 250K, I'm thinking about what to get next.  From what I've read, the following is the situation on reliability with the various VAG 1.9/2.0TDI diesels (please correct me where I'm wrong!)
• VW Sharan TDi - Extended warranty recommendations 4 Aug 2017 (Forum)
  The only one I looked at is VWs own and to be honest it looks good to me covering everything other than a list of named exclusions but the main thing is it covers what I see as the high risk items DSG, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, EGR, SRC / AdBlue system, catalyst but only covers the DPF for internal failure but not from getting blocked, all the sensors are covered. £277 for a years cover with £100 excess and 10K miles limit.

    I was second in line and the traffic was busy that day. On another occasion my car was at the second fuel pump, I was paying for petrol in the kiosk and the driver at the front pump, having paid, drove away.   A young man in a BMW X5 500 drove by my old car into the front pump position and filled up.
• Nissan Terrano II (1993 - 2005) - 1993 2.7 turb No power to glow plugs 3 Apr 2017 (Forum)
  My 1993 Nissan Terrano 2.7 Turbo Diesel wont always start from cold. It either starts fine or takes ages of turning it over before producing clouds of unburnt fuel then starting, more often its the latter. I had the AA out who said there was no power to the glow plugs and gave me a can of easy start, which works but is no long term solution. The glow plug relays look fine with no corrosion at terminals and sound as if they are clicking on and off ok, the glow plug light on the dash comes on as normal aswell.

  So I never did find the fault. About 8yrs ago I had a problem when it wouldnt start when hot .. I changed the fuel filter and it was OK after that .. Ive changed the filter again thinking it may be the prob .. Still running but and worried it could cut out at any time ..   Any help please ?

  I plan to buy a used hatch or saloon with max budget of 5K. I am looking for something that is very cheap to run(Fuel efficiency/Tax/insurance/Maintenance). This is for my personal use for weekend trips and occasional city rides in the evening, I think on an average 10000 miles a year. I had real bad experience with my previous car from a dealer which was my first car so I get worried.
• Renault Clio S 1.4l 8v - Wreg Clio turns over but won't start. 5 Jul 2016 (Forum)
  Everything works as it should but there is no spark and no life from the injectors. I tested each injector in turn and they all work and there is good fuel pressure, I changed the crank sensor but no change. I even tried a different ecu/bcu/key kit and it was no different. Annoyingly the wiring on it doesn't match anything in the Haynes manual so before I begin the tiresome task of checking ALL the engine wiring can anybody help with this problem?

  I have also replaced the following parts in the last 3 months: Spark Plugs Ignition Leads Coil pack Cam Sensor Fuel Filter   If anyone has any idea what this could be I would really appreciate the advice as I have hit a brick wall with this!
• VW Golf mark VI 1.6TDI - Lost engine power on motorway! 29 Jun 2015 (Forum)
  Had to limp into the hard shoulder using whatever speed was left - and call the breakdown services. The car would not re-start. Fuel tank still 2/3 full. Got a tow home. Tomorrow, when the garages open, I will have to take it in. But what could have caused all this ? The car is from October 2009, and has just 59K miles on the clock - mainly motorway driving.

  Same garage came, plugged in computer and found various faults, diagnosing crankcase sensor. Fitted that, no joy, 2nd hand fuel pump, no joy, 2nd hand throttle body, still no joy. Off to auto electrician diagnosed ECU failure. After 2 attempts with another auto electrician installing and re programming ECU still no joy.
• fiesta 1.4 tdci 53 plate - won't start after overhaul 25 May 2015 (Forum)
  I cleaned up the injectors using a wire wheel, proceeded with the rest of the work and built it back up with new parts including injector seal kit and leak off pipe kit, I finally got it back together yesterday primed the diesel (as I also fitted a new service kit including fuel filter) and cranked her over but she refuses to start. Cranks over fine but will not start. As i didnt remove the injectors im not sure if they have gone back in the same order. Please has anyone got any advice.

  The symptoms are as follows, 1. key inserted, turn to first postion all warning light/symbols "on"     and sound of fuel pressurising is heard. 2. after few seconds all warning light/symbols" off" except Battery 3. turn key to start position a feight single "click" is heard and  nothing  else happens, no cranking/starter engagement or other sounds.

  I appreciate the low mileage can be seen as a problem, but also feel that may appeal to some buyers. The car has been 99% reliable but does have a faulty fuel gauge, not registering below quarter full, and I do not know if the cambelt has been changed. My daughter may be interested in buying it, but I need to arrive at a price which is fair to both seller and buyer, and also a valuation should I need to sell it on the open market.

  If a car this old is really not an issue and I check F/S/H service stamps etc, then would the ST170 be worth looking at as it seems to have everything- only thing that concerns me is the mpg which if I am on a tight budget it seems daft to buy something that is going to consume fuel like there's no tomorrow! Cheers.
• Audi A1 Sportback - AUDI A1 1.6TDI 105 BHP FAILS TO START OR RUN 15 Aug 2014 (Forum)
  I could not get thye car restarted and so called out Audi Assist. They checked the car and also were stumped as there were no fault codes and the system fuel pressure indicated no problems on diagnostics. The car was towed to Lomond Audi in Glasgow who carried out further investigations for a couple of days. They said that the car appeared all OK and even the EGR was fine.
