Ford Fiesta - Ford 'capless fuel' 20 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I've just taken delivery of a newish Ford, and was surprised by the lack of a petrol locking cap. The fuel flap can be opened without a key or inside cab release leaver, albeit there appears to be a strong spring door that will only allow the right fuel nozzle in. Given that I'm a bit paranoid as in the past of had some t***(s) jump on the roof of one car, and have another keyed whilst in a multi-storey, is this flap prone to prone to vandalism (i.e some pratt might think it's a geat wheez to bend the flap of it's hindges? -
All makes - Maximum fuel efficiency speed 15 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Radio 2's homwork query today at 6.45pm was 'at what speed would a car cover a set distance using the least fuel?' The answer was rather flimsy, but apparently 52-56 mph [ignoring all the car variables etc]. Most time was spent waffling on about making sure the boot was empty and so forth. But if I travel at 62 mph I arrive quicker so the engine would be burning fuel for less time. -
52 TDCi Mondeo Auto (Ghia) - New fuel pump - TDCi Mondeo 5 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Just a quickie, Mother needs a new fuel pump for her '52 2.0 TDCI (130) Auto Mondeo. Just want to clarify which fuel pump to buy; there are several around on eBay which all look identical, ranging from £120 to £500+; are they the same or are there subtle differences? -

hi, i have a peugeot 307 2.0 hdi 90 it comes up with anti polution fault and eml it will start up but soon as you put your foot down it will die and not restart. took it to a garage and they put it on a diagnostic machine which gave me back two fuel pressure faults. they have changed the fuel filters, flushed the lines, changed in tank pump, changed two injectors that were leaking and still it is doing the same thing. do you have any ideas on what this could be? -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - Poor Fuel Economy of 2.0 TDCi with DPF 4 Oct 2009 (Forum)
If you are thinking of buying a Mondeo diesel for its fuel economy, think again. I have just bought a new 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Estate fitted with a DPF, which will not achieve more than upper 30's mpg. The DPF has had an effect on fuel economy, so if you want a Mondeo IV diesel to get more MPG, at the moment it is best to go for the 1.8 TDCi which does not have the DPF as standard. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 96 1.5 Diesel fuel leak after brimming it 16 Jun 2009 (Forum)
New to this car, fill it to the brim and - consternation among the Shell guys - diesel started leaking all over their forecourt. Quickly bought a fuel can and whipped under the leak, but now diagnosing. After around half a litre or so, it stopped, but the fuel was capillaring down to the bottom of the tank, from where I don't know. Wasn't the long neck that emerges under the wheel arch. -

Diesel fuel consumption 9 Aug 2008 (Forum)
This implies that by working at it (and by some experimentation) the car can be driven more economically than one might think. But same, constant speed for less fuel? How? Why? Isn't that defying the laws of physics? Is the swingometer having me on? -
Volkswagen Passat (1997 - 2000) - 2000 1.8 20v se - fuel consumption 25 Mar 2008 (Forum)
My 2000 1.8 20v se has a fuel consumption meter which has recently started to read erratically and inaccurately. I assume it monitors the fuel intake vacuum pressure. Engine performance does not appear to be affected in any way. -

406 HDI Fuel/Oil Temp Gauge Fault 11 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Hi, I currently have a fault on my X reg 2000 406 Rapier Estate (90). On the instument panel the fuel gauge does not work, it sits right at the bottom (empty) end of the gauge and never moves. However the oil temp gauge displays how much fuel I have eg goes to the 'hot' end of the scale when I fill up with diesel and goes down as I use it. -
Expanding Huyndai Fuel Tank 10 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Just bought a new Hyundai Trajet Diesel Auto. Very pleased with so far (100 miles)! Fuel capacity is supposedly 65 litres according to handbook and marketing literature. The now retired V6 had a 75 litre tank. The car came with 18 miles on it (it was delivered to us) and about 1/8 tank of fuel. -
Powerplus fuel filter 27 Oct 2003 (Forum)
My revived Capri 2.8i is running happily on unleaded fuel with a lead additive. However, I saw in the Mercedes-Benz Club magazine this morning favourable mention of someone running an old unconverted Merc on unleaded with the Powerplus fuel filter. I have visited http://www.magyk.com/pages/powerplus/ to see many plausible testimonials and other information. -

Any - UK gets lowest fuel tax tax reduction in EU 14 Aug 2022 (Forum)
Our 5p per litre cut in fuel duty is paltry in comparison to other western EU countries according to the RAC. Indeed Germany's was 500% more at 25p per litre https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62371732 Discuss. -

What car is best on fuel for short journeys, that has some of the comforts of a medium family car? Do all cars suffer poor economy on short journeys? The official figure urban for ours is 45mpg and we struggle to get half of that -
Any - Fuel cost in perspective 3 Nov 2021 (Forum)
To give some perspective to the horrendous fuel price at the moment, I filled-up yesterday: 62 litres - £87.00 (Costco, so a decent price) In May this year, I spent the identical sum again at Cosco (£87.00), but this was for 72 litres.
