Has a hard-wired dash cam messed with the electronics in my car? 28 Apr 2018 (Ask HJ)
I recently had a dash cam fitted and hard wired by Halfords. During inclement weather, a message came up on the dash saying, "Front camera cannot see,... -
Can cars travelling in the opposite direction set off speed cameras? 2 Nov 2010 (Ask HJ)
I keep getting flashed by speed cameras on the same stretch of road when I know I am under the limit. Could something else, such as cars going in the opposite... -
Speed Camera 20 Aug 2021 (Forum)
I know this camera very well and always slow down normally but this time I'm just a little worried. I want to say I put my breaks on before i hit the 3 horizontal lines but cant be certain. It did not flash but then having researched into these types of cameras they don't flash, but i did see a red light, but not sure if that was just the reflection of the sun. -
Can you recommend a satnav with speed limit indication? 19 Oct 2013 (Ask HJ)
Do you know of a Satnav (UK and Europe) with integral speed limit indication and speed camera warning or a Satnav with integral 'Road Angel Gem' facilities,... -
Gatso Camera from other side 7 Dec 2011 (Forum)
On one side, say that is heading north, the road is marked with distance markers, and a gatso type camera is facing towards those markers, clearly shooting cars heading north. The limit is 30. I am travelling south on the road, there are no marking on my side, and I am around 20 metres away from the camera when I get a flash in my face. -
GATSO flashing from front - further news 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I can tell you, however, that these cameras can detect vehicle speeds in either direction and that these cameras are "Type Approved" by the Home Office. The camera calibration markings you refer to are on both sides of the road because the camera can cover both carriageway lanes and detect the speed of vehicles on whichever side of the road they are being driven." -
Ford Fiesta 2008 Zetec Climate 1.25 3dr - Recommended Reversing Camera to fit 13 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Hello, I've just bough this used car and want to fit a reverse camera. I've seen both wireless and wired versions available and many to choose from. Has anyone recently fitted one they would recommend? Thank you Louis -
Camera-cheating methods 10 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I momentarily thought 'that Scotsman doesn't love his car'. Might be accepted by the cameras, but I was not surprised to find that it has no MoT record. What - if anything - does 'the system' do when such cars are detected? There is no DVLA record, so no address to send anything or anyone to? -
Speed-camera location rules relaxed 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Heard on the news that the Beloved Government is relaxing the rules for positioning speed cameras, so that it will no longer be a requirement that the site has been the scene of accidents over a long period of time. Big Brother gets even bigger. I am truly fed up with this suffocating regulatory culture devised by bus- and bike-riding academics and bureaucrats in central London. -
The Speed Camera Thread - Volume 42 26 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I told the missus that this is a complete load of hokum. I don't see how a camera can record your number if it doesn't flash, and I don't think all cameras are linked into a database that could do the 'totting-up'. She is getting a bit shirty with me because I don't believe the email, and says that she has looked up her own vehicle on the website. -
Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 37 15 Jan 2006 (Forum)
But my main questions are......... 1.What kind of camera do they use in these vans (merc Vito i think) 2.What kind of penalty can i expect? 3.Anybody know anything about the speed awareness courses, and waht the threshholds etc are? 4.One website i was reading said if the Police catch you (rather than a safety camera partnership) they often stop you at the roadside and issue a NIP there and then. -
Infiniti fx30s - Reversing camera 29 Apr 2015 (Forum)
The three yr manufactures warranty ran out on 12/03/15 and infiniti don't do a extended warranty scheme. . Sod's law was looking into taking a warranty out with warranty direct and my reversing camera and parking sensors have stop working. I took it to my nearest infiniti dealer Glyn Hopkins St. Albans who have just quoted me £1500 to replace the camera unit. I asked if there was any chance of a goodwill gesture from infiniti uk. -
PocketGPSWorld or SCDB - SatNav Database ?? 28 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I have a TomTom SatNav. Have used TomToms Safety/Speed camera database for some years. But recently I've noticed quite a few local mobile camera locations in my area are no longer shown on the map and some fixed camera's are longer used, and not have been for a few years. -
Keeping a camera in the car 7 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I've always thought it'd be a good idea to keep a single-use camera in the car for use after a 'close encounter of the crumpling kind'. Maybe through fear of pre-empting such an occurrence I've never quite got round to it. How many BRs do keep one in the car? Although many mobile phones now incorporate a camera of sorts, I vaguely remember reading that digital images have no legal standing because they are so readily manipulated. -
A5 through Dunstable 3 Apr 2002 (Forum)
IMHO Dunstable itself is the armpit of Britain, but compounded with traffic lights at 50 yard intervals in places and with reversable speed cameras (no road marking but those cameras with what looks like an infra-red light pointing face on to you) at either end of the town you really need your wits about you. Coming south yesterday, I was so worried about the cameras I nearly missed a set of red lights - 50 yards after the green ones! -
In-car cameras. 21 Mar 2010 (Forum)
To cover what's happening in front, behind, all around..? Any recommendations? Any ways of modifying non-specific equipment to use in such a capacity? -
Speed Camera Spotting Game 7 Jan 2007 (Forum)

Where are the speed camera vans on the m180? 24 Feb 2018 (Forum)
I was bombing it down the m180 today at about 6:45 just after junction 5 for maybe a few miles, I didn’t notice any speed vans and I know closer to Sc***horpe there are camera warning signs, where are the vans usually located down this way? I don’t think I was anywhere near junction two going over the limit. -
In Car cameras... Good or Bad idea? 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Ok, I'll start a seperate topic... as I've said I have grave doubts about the increased use of these things, especially from their possible (probable) misuse... We all complain about the number of CCTV cameras in public places but their use is strictly registered and controlled whereas this development is a total free-for-all... Personally, unless there are strict controls on their use I'm against them. -
