volvo - What is the best car for me? 10 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I am in need of a car that has the following: - decent high up drive level - decent MPG - preferably diesel, though not essential - decent boot space I have been looking at Volvo XC70/90, these come up trumps in most areas, but I'm not a fan of anything Automatic. I drive a 200TDI defender 90, so prefer the gearstick. I realise any SUV or taller vehicle won't be the best on the long drives, in comparison to an estate like the xc70, octavia, bmw, subaru, etc, would just be good for a taller driving height. -

Vauxhall Astra - 2010 Astra Mk6 engine seized, worth repairing? 18 Apr 2020 (Forum)
My Dads automatic Mk6 Astra suddenly seized up over the weekend, no warning signs, just heard some slight metalic rattling, drove it about a mile to his nearest garage and it completely seized up en route with smoke pouring out of the engine. -

Can I disable my car's headlamp washer jets? 9 Dec 2019 (Ask HJ)
My 2012 Audi A6 is using a lot of screen wash fluid. It has headlamp washers which I suspect are the culprits. Is it feasible (and legal) to disable them? -

Car accident where other driver is trying to rip m 11 Aug 2019 (Forum)
We were both stopped at a red light and I didn't realise that after I had stopped the car, it started moving again (like when you let go of the brake in an automatic car). This meant that it hit the car in front of me at something like 2mph (or thereabout). Now I left some scratches on the car in front of me from my grill, which should be a simple repaint of the bumper (£200-£250). -
Driving with a broken (left) foot 6 Aug 2019 (Forum)
We are going camping in 3 weeks, so might need to rent an auto to fit everything in (the Yaris Hybrid isn’t big enough). An automatic car is a lot more than a van to rent, it seems, so I wondered if anyone rents auto vans? I’m not sure camping will be much fun with my foot in a big boot, but it’s all paid for and we are going in a bigger group. -
Seat Ateca vs VW Tiguan - Seat Ateca or VW Tiguan for Motability Lease 31 May 2019 (Forum)
You guys have given me good advice in the past so back for more. My Motability lease car is due for replacement soon. I need a comfortable automatic car that easy to get in and out of and a large boot for hoist and mobility scooter. It cannot be too big as it won't fit on the drive and must be good both in town and on the motorway. My shortlist is Seat Ateca diesel or petrol ( petrol slightly higher deposit) or VW Tiguan Match 2L diesel, all are 150bhp. -
Something interesting for £7k ? 21 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I am looking to spend around £7,000 on a replacement. I would prefer a coupe or convertible and I fancy an automatic gearbox. Annual mileage 10,000 with daily commute of 8 miles each way. More power would be good, minimum 200hp. My man-maths "budget" is the fuel economy. In my head any car that gets 30mpg or better is a winning proposition. -

Peugeot 307 2002 5Door - Car wont start after stereo install attempt 21 Jul 2017 (Forum)
LOL. basically i got this stereo set up yesterday, everything working fine except that when the car is turned off it forgets all the settings i set.. which meant the radio wasnt getting constant power when the car is off. to locate that i took the wires and started plugging them into other random wires, the wire i was connecting was the yellow wire from the stereo, ground is connected, well i look on my dashboard and the light for the airbag is on, i get worried and put the wires back where they are meant to be. and start the car, the car starts. headlights turn on themselves, wipers are also running. i try turn them off but nothing happens its automatically doing those, i turn the car off and these turn off, i try to start the car again and it wont start. the battery is fine and has the power to turn the car on, the starter turns, the car cranks but just wont start. i need a solution to this problem ASAP please, any help would be appreciated. -

Which car has SWMBO chosen? 13 Dec 2016 (Forum)
What we need now for a second car is: - Small, nippy, easy to park and fun to drive on local journeys (mostly between 4 and 10 miles each way) but also with a big enough engine with sufficient oomph to hit the A303 and motorways (she is still doing some Reading-based work although most is from home) - Up to £20,000 - Petrol, manual - 5 doors (this is a friendly village community and people give each other lifts, and she doesn't like driving my automatic Volvo) - Satnav, lumbar support, heated front seats and a spare wheel, although we don't mind if these are options. She's made a choice - any guesses as to what we've ordered? -
VW Golf 1.6 FSI Auto 2005 - VW Golf 1.6 FSI Auto Tranmission fault? 16 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Hi My sister has just bought a used VW Golf 1.6 FSI Automatic from a Vauxhall dealer in Portsmouth, UK. As she drove it away from the dealer the petrol light was on so she immediately filled up with petrol. As she drove it away from the petrol station the car went into tiptronic mode and got stuck in first gear then the dashboard gear indicator went blank. -
