Nissan Almera Tino 2.2 dCi - Poor fuel economy 6 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Surely I should be seeing better figures than this? Others in owner reviews seem to regularly quote high 40's, what am I doing wrong, or what may be the cause of such (in my opinion) poor economy? Has this 2.2 chain cam engine any known foibles which may be giving me my problems. In general running the engine feels strong, and certainly doesn't appear lacking in power or torque and certainly isn't smoking excessively or anything obvious like that.

Didn't declare incident, should I now? 10 Jan 2018 (Forum)
However, I've been shopping around for a 2nd car and doing quotes online, and it has occurred to me that I may have to declare this as an "incident, no claim made" on quotes (which puts up my premium by around £90 depending on the car, and this really ****'s me off since it wasn't my fault and I I didn't make a claim - there's hundreds of threads about that gripe though, so I'll moan no further here.) Anyway, my question is, will my insurance co be aware of this incident, or will the other party's company be the only ones aware?

Mk5 golf Gt Tdi - Mk5 golf Gt Tdi turbo issues, help!! 11 Oct 2017 (Forum)
I don't want to throw any more time at it as it's so frustrating, I've heard it can perminantly damage the engine, I noticed a leak on the intercooler hose where it meets the intercooler, its noticeable when I'm driving the boost noise, I've left it in hopes that it lets enough out so it counteracts the overboost and stops engine failure, just hit 100k and done 800 mile runs where it hasn't happened, but under load increases the risk of it coming back, I don't know what to do anymore, I'm worried that the turbo will s*** the bed, we have just had a newborn and we rely on our car, we are worried that the turbo could die any day... anyone able to help??.. thanks Graeme

                Hyundai i20 1.2 Petrol Classic 2012 - i20 Electric Power Steering - USB Audio Fault? 25 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I now guess that plugging in a USB memory stick to replay an audio book through the car's audio system somehow triggers this difference. I guess that this somehow affects the wheel speed sensors or computer(s). I guess that this stops the power steering from switching properly from slow-speed (max. assistance) to its high-speed (min. assistance) mode, and the brakes/ABS wrongly assume that a wheel is skidding, so can pull to one side or perhaps trigger the stability control?

Jaguar XF - Jag XF - update from private owner after 2.5 yrs 26 May 2016 (Forum)
New pads & disks fitted all round this year - parts from motor factors were ~£180 (they are the same as the S-type it turns out) and a few hours of my time in the summer evenings. Even eleccy handbrake still worked afterwards! Upcoming costs are spark plug change (the inlet manifold has to come off to access 1 bank of cyls) and considering changing the anti-freeze as its' been in there 5 years.

VW Golf - Fault Claim - Dealing with the insurance company. 25 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Due to a high wall obstructing my view coming from a side road, I edged forward on to the main road get a better view - possibly 12"s or so. Sadly, a car travelling along the road collided with the very corner of my driver side bumper, which resulted in their passenger side wheel being pushed towards the wheel arch.

LandRover Freelander 2 - Land Rover ongoing costs 10 May 2015 (Forum)
The car was 7 years old but bought from and known by the dealer and had done 43000 miles. Having had two company Freelander 2's previously I was confident that I knew the fuel running costs and having the warranty set my mind at ease to do the deal. In March however the car needed servicing, the service flagged all brake pads needing replacement and one pair disks.

Honda CRV 2005 2,2 diesel - misguide of DPF -have replaced the pre-converter 1 Dec 2014 (Forum)
City driving short distances got me the dpf light again , when I decided to replace the dpf with a new one ; I did not do it with the dealer due to high price but with an authorized workshop ; It has been removed the right part ( the DPF by the mechanics) but following my pal instructions ( he was working 7 years with Honda as car mechanic ) I told them , "this is not the dpf " - I meant the part of the exhaust that has two small pipes attached - and also " I want you to remove for me this part because that´s the DPF (??) " and , due to the fact the mechanics of that workshop do not face every day such cars (situations ) they have removed what I asked them do do ; and that was pre-converter - catalytic convertor - ...

LPG : which system is best? 11 Jan 2014 (Forum)
t seem to suffer from this problem so much (???). Petrol Land Rover owners will be glad to hear that the venerable LR V8 in it?s various guises is very popular with LPG converts. However an awful lot of them seem to be complaining about very poor consumption on LPG, for example mpg on petrol is 20-22, therefore with LPG you would reasonably expect 15-17 mpg, but owners are only getting 10-12 mpg on LPG which makes the conversion almost redundant.

                re-registering, MOT & tax 10 Jan 2014 (Forum)
The car was owned from new by a leasing company, and was then bought at auction by my trade seller. The only problem(s) are... - I was given the V5C when I bought the car, but the trade seller didn't sign it. We were rushed in completing so I'm wondering if this just got forgotten. - I notice on the V5C the ownership hasn't changed from the leasing company to the trade seller.

big van! - reckless driving 25 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I accept that I can probably be done for reckless driving as I am aware I did change lanes a bit swiftly, I was driving behind this car that seemed to be braking for no reason ( you know the ones), police said she reported that I was tailgaiting her, but to be honest she was kind of racing me futher back up the road ( I say sort of - we weren;t speeding, just playing silly b*****s trying to get in front, stupid now looking back, its strange but somedays I don't give a damn, and others I'm zipping in and out of traffic, which is pointless really. Apparantly the damage is very minor, just a slight dent on front wing, (the car looked like it was worth less than £500) how badly can I get done for this??

Honda Jazz EX - Best Choice Tyres, limited choice 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
OK in the dry and not bad in the wet, but wont get them again On the rear are a pair of Conti PC2's - but I feel I want something better for the snow - but won't be buying to sets of tyres (IE Summer and Winter) The other option is to increase to 195/55/16 - not as bad as it sounds as the speedo reads 70mph at 67mph and this would make it closer to correct.

VW Golf GT Sport (140 BHP) - 91W and 91Y Tyre Pressures 9 Jun 2012 (Forum)
This does not bother me as I would happily sacrifice some fuel consumption for safety, but now I am thinking that maybe my new 91Y rated tyres are not correctly inflated. I know that the GYEF1's are excellent tyres with very good grip, so maybe the drop in fuel consumption is due to them being slightly more 'stickier'/grippier than my old tyres (which were worn, so maybe that is a factor?), but I keep reading reports saying that these GYs also have low rolling resistance?

Nissan Note 1.5dci December 2006 - Differential oil seal 16 Mar 2012 (Forum)
About two months ago I detected smell of gear oil when parking and saw few drops coming off under tray. Closer exam revealed oil weeping from n/s diff oil seal which gradually got worse to such an extent I got her up on ramps and drained the original oil out to find that i had lost about a litre or so. Whilst on the ramps I thought it a good idea to refill with my recently aquired fully synthetic gear oil which is obviously of a lighter viscosity.

Honda CRV mark I - Refurbish or Replace ? 4 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I have a 1998 Honda CRV on an 'S' Plate. I have owned the car for 2 years and it has served me well. Let me down twice - once due to the battery (original !) failing - the second time due to battery again (another rubbish halfords part).

                Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 2.0 Hdi With no power/turbo? 26 Aug 2010 (Forum)
You can rev it really hard in 2nd, but when you change upto 3rd it takes ages to accelerate up from 1900- 2600. Im not a complete mug when it comes to mechanicing, and iv always serviced my 306's myself, but Im not sure where to start looking with this problem! It is driveable, and i needed a car urgently, so I knocked him down from £2100 and got it for £1700 hoping this would give me enough room to get it fixed without making it a really expensive car!

It's a secret - Advice on selling used car to trader 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I live in a city near a wide range of dealers, plenty of spare time during the day, and though I know I'll get several hundred £s less than selling privately, I'm OK with that. The car was a gift so whatever I get for it is profit, and the big saving for me will be in not having to pay the running costs. Releasing the capital in the car is, frankly, a bonus.

Bearing my soul - Carsite and Nissan Notes 1 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Have been 'drawn' to scenics etc...but wife thinks they are too big, and I hear far too many reliability issues...so we have finally decided (ie I have been told) that a Nissan Note will be what we are likely to go for. Being in our 30's will be a novelty as all ote drivers seem...older. These appear to be reliable as they are Nissan...or am I ill informed? They are slightly 'higher' as we both have poor backs so like the ever-so-slight step 'into' rather than step 'down into' (we have test driven a couple and like them).
