Faulty Ford Mondeo - should I fix it or sell? 29 Sep 2013 (Ask HJ)
I have owned my 2004 Ford Mondeo since new and until last year it never gave me any issues for complaint. However, with 130,000 miles on the clock, it... -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000/xreg 2.0 Ghia fuel pump/fuse 20 Feb 2011 (Forum)
On the way home the abs warning light and traction control light where on permanently, So I checked the fuses when I got home and found they had put a 30 amp rated fuse in place of the blown 15 amp fuse for the fuel pump. So I sorted that out and the next day bought a new battery, as the old one was 7 years old, hoping this would cure it. The car has been used all week with no problems and I thought it was fixed. But today after driving around making lots of stops and starts, the car started and stalled again just as before, the 15 amp fuse had blown again. -
Peugeot 206 - Peugeot 2.0 HDI Naughtyness 21 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Got it back to my house and after more faffing about he sprayed some easy start in the intake and asked me to turn the engine over and it did for about a second....5 litres of diesel in the tank and the poxy thing started with no problems other than a flattened battery from attempting to crank it over several times by myself and him. However- driving it now it's sluggish, more so in first and second gear(it feels like there is no boost going on) and you feel like your not moving at all sometimes, but once you get it going to can drive along a flat bit of motorway at 70 fine(adding more speed seems to take much longer than usual when driving at speed as I've noticed) The last 2 days it had illuminated the engine management light and also beeped anti pollution fault on the central display whilst driving it along or from initial startup-this does not happen anymore for some strange reason, I did crap myself when this first happened as it had done this before and cut out, this is not the case now as I have since to see the light appear!! -
What Are My Rights if I Buy a Duff Car? 9 May 2007 (Forum)
His colleague drove it off. I rang them the next day and he was adamant I had just left the lights on drained the battery and that there was nothing wrong with the car. This is crap!! Anyway get car back and same thing happens again. He takes it away...yet again..and I collect it from the dealership on the Saturday morning, with nearly 90 miles more on the clock and an empty petrol tank may I add. -
Corsa 1.2 Vegas Starting Problems 10 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Drove beautifully on way home and there is stayed til the next morning. Next day, turned the key and nothing. Battery is spot on but there is absolutely no firing at all. Friend of mine took a look and we found that with determination and a lot of fuel flooding problems we could get the car running, albeit misfiring badly, and when it warmed up it was ok. -
Golf VR6 - Water Temperature 6 Dec 2003 (Forum)
At the time of the clutch change I failed to leave (never asked) the dealer with the key to isolate the alarm system (Scorpion 5000). On disconnecting the battery to undertake the clutch change the alarm activated on its backup system. After a while the engineer and other dealer staff became fed up with the noise (130db) and decided to deactivate the alarm by alternate means - never fully explained. -
Speed Bumps from The Times 24 Aug 2001 (Forum)
However, a potential rival hump has been invented by Graham Assinder at Roke Manor Research, part of the German-owned Siemens group. It contains a digital camera, a row of powerful light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and a battery recharged by solar power. The camera uses a radio transmitter to send a picture back to a control base. It is already employed at the entrance to the firm's offices in Romsey, Hampshire, using number-plate recognition to operate a barrier. -
Ford Transit - Help with independent dealer 21 Dec 2013 (Forum)
During their investigation, they found an engine management trouble code stored for main relay power failure. The battery was dead (they said the battery wasn't good enough for the van) so they charged it and carried out engine bay electrical testing. They identified low power supply to fuel pump (9.4-9.5 volts) resulting in loss of diesel injection. -

none - The case against electric vehicles. 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
The most crucial factor is that the manufacture of the batteries is so emitting CO 2 that we must have traveled 50 000-100 000 km in electric car to start to be less producer of CO 2 a thermal car. -
Honda CR-Z - New car - very first impressions 30 Oct 2014 (Forum)
The ride is very smooth; I am also unused to the lack of road noise! The car is very quiet and in neutral at traffic lights it switches onto start-stop. The battery assists sensibly and MPG is going to be really good, although it'll take me a while to build up my pattern there. The tank isn't huge but again that's a minor thing. Stereo is pretty good; no Mazda Bose effort but possibly that was a little wasted in a noisy MX-5 anyway! -
Ford Mondeo - Engine problem(?) after speedo failure (52 Mondeo) 20 Jun 2013 (Forum)
They outsourced the job to a local garage. When the guy came 1.5hr after calling, he checked the volt of battery, and it was OK. He consulted the situation with his colleague in the garage that they concluded that it was simply a speedo sensor failure, and it was safe to drive back to Oxford. The bumpy was caused by the on board vehicle computer that it was confused by the inconsistency between speed and other readings. -

Almera woes 4 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Rattles from the roof and dashboard. 10. Car wouldn't start once, RAC came out and found a loose battery terminal, (I have never touched this) and found a couple of other nuts and bolts loose. 11. And finally the last chapter that is yet to complete, the Air bag light started to flash, took the car in on Friday, another £115 bill, picked up the car to find that the steering wheel is now not centred again. -
306HDi-Knocking after new fuel pump 13 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Any ideas what is causing the poor running as only the pump and filter have been touched. Oh I think this is a coincidence but think the battery was low before breakdown as the morning and evening before it was slow to turn over and the speedo/rev counter went round to 110/5000rpm on starting and all the segment of the mileage display lit up - I assume because of low voltage. -
X300 interior bulb replacement 27 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Please be aware that i am just a tinkerer so this is a rough guide and i take no responsibility if things break or cock up. Disconnect battery negative. Instrument binnacle speedo and rev counter lights. Remove 5 screws holding dash undertrim onto dash. Remove ths cable to the temperature sensor. Place to one side. Extend steering wheel as far as it will go and push it up as far as possible. -
Don't try this at home. 22 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Only the engine doesn't feel too great and there's a nasty vibration coming into the car. Check the dials, oil light ok, battery light ok, diagnostics ok, rev counter, wobbling a bit. So I kill the stereo and get the window down, it sounds like a lawnmower. Oh dear, it's a clear road so off I go and it sounds like its about to stall at first but it picks up and it's fine again, 60mph.
