  • Vauxhall Zafira A - Ecotec 1.6 - turns, fires, immediately cuts out. 1 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I also turned the engine by rotating a camshaft while it was apart (didn't remove timing chain). Battery was disconnected the entire time. So - it all went back together without a problem. Turned ignition, engine cranks fine, catches, then almost immediately cuts out. Same thing everytime. No errors when doing pedal test at this point.
  • Auris Hybrid HSD - Auris HSD-older avg mileage or newer high mileage 2 Mar 2015 (Forum)
My local Toyota dealer currently has a couple of Auris Hybrids that are within or near my price range: - 2010 T-Sprit with Sat-nav, 4,500 miles above the average for the age, Silver, £8,999 (12 months warranty, the MOT & tax expired 3 months ago so I'm guessing it's been sitting on their forecourt for that time & the battery had gone flat when I had a look at it. Has 'first generation' sat-nav) - 2012 T-Sprit with Sat-nav, 16,300 miles above the average for the age, 'Island blue' £9,999 (which is over my budget) (2.5 years warranty, has small dent in one of the doors, updated sat-nav compared to above- Possibly "Touch & go", though not sure of advantages).

  • Ford Focus Hatchback 1.8 TDCi 2001 - Ford Focus TDCi engine seized. 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I steered the car onto the hard-shoulder, and called the RAC.   The patrolman told me that the battery and engine fluids/oil were all fine, but that the engine had seized.   He said he suspected it maybe the oil pressure but could not be certain other than that the engine would not turn over.
  • Ford Focus TDCi (02 plate) - Focus 1.8 TDCi - clicking noise/glow plug light 26 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Clicking noise when engine is starting. This was worse at first, when we went for a test drive. Dealer said the battery had been flat and he hadn't put much charge in it. This tallies with what I've read about this symptom. However it is still going on. Another theory from the dealer's mate was the cambelt was cold and needed to warm up - which seems a bit bizarre and I wonder if there was a misunderstanding somewhere?
