Insurance about exporting my car to Europe 7 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi there, Just have some questions about insurance when exporting my own car to Europe . I am about to move to Luxembourg (>12months) and want to drive my car there. Surely it is regarded as export according to DVLA. I need to get my car registered there but it is very very time consuming. I can drive my car as a foreign one and keep my plate for 6 months and it would be sufficient for me to get a new plate. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 Car losing power when accelerating esp. up 11 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi there, was wondering if anyone could help me! My Fiesta MK4 1.25 has recently starting driving like a dog-when accelerating it frequently loses power, especially going uphill. I have to then "experiment" with various positions on the accelerator pedal until it regains power. As you can imagine this can be a bit dangerous when driving on the motorway/at junctions/roundabouts! -

just purchased in car camera 1 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Drove 350 miles on Saturday & checked all the stored files today. Quality very good even the night driving came out in an acceptable state. Almost needed it as a car pulled out a side turning without looking & whilst my wife was driving she missed the car by about 4 ft!. Thank you for the help that was offered & I shall now purchase another for my daughter. -

Input on my next car please!!!!! 27 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I have two small children, one is a babe in arms, the other a toddler. I do about 20k per annum. Space, practicality is important but I do like the way a 3 series drives which is why I have left it on the list?. I have discounted the silly cars in respect of cost of income tax and cars that I really wouldn?t drive and here is my shortlist. Audi A4 TDI Avant SE 143 BMW 3 series Touring 320d SE Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI CR 170 Elegance Rav 4 2.2D XT-R (not really sure about this one) Verso T Spirit 2.0 d4d (again not really sure) Passat Diesel estate Highline CR DSG (I do like autos) Tiguan 2.0 TDI SE Volvo V50 2.0d SE Lux (both powershift and non-powershift are available) Your thoughts are most welcome. -
Man breaks 15 laws in 11 minutes [Duplicate Post] 21 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The 47-year-old initially raced past an unmarked police car in heavy rain at 160 km/h (100mph) before weaving close to other cars and the road's kerb. The serial offender clocked up further offences for speeding, driving on the hard shoulder, running a set of red lights and failing to stop for police. When finally pulled over by St Gallen police, he failed a drugs test. The unnamed driver, who lives near Zurich, faces a lengthy driving ban and a possible jail sentence when he appears before a Swiss court. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 engine surge/high revs at idle 12 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I have a 99 focus 1.8 petrol and its driving me nuts. It has developed a high idle at normal driving temperature, it used to idle aroung 800rpm but is now up to 1000 rpm. The revs also surge when i stop at lights/traffic etc. For example if i am going 40 mph and stop at lights dip the clutch or flick into neutral the revs will rise to about 2000 rpm and after a few seconds settle down at 1000 rpm. -
SAAB 9-5 (1997 - 2009) - 00 3.0 Miss-firing when hot start up 21 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The throttle body has been cleaned. > > I am getting very adept at slipping into neutral and switching off, > restarting the engine and then back into drive again ! > It is liveable with because it is predictable and manageable, but > annoying. > Anybody got any ideas please? > Thank you, -

Insurance disaster 13 Jun 2009 (Forum)
For years i have been with the same insurance company and every year they have renewed my policy without fail. Last year i changed companys . today i was driving my son to work and was stopped by the police and was told that my insurance had run out at midnight,(less than 6 hours ) i told them that i thought my policy had been automaticly renewd at midnight any way the police told me if i renewed the policy at the road side then they would not take my car away but i would be getting 6 points and a fine . i renewed my insurance and had to tell them about the points which added another £400 on to my insurance, i have been driving for years and never once had any dealing with the police i think it was a little excessive as it was a honest mistake (the insurance company deny any liability. -
The nicest VAG-Group diesel auto to drive? 22 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I'd been hoping to find a smallish, Japanese, chain-cam diesel with 'proper' torque-converter auto' gear-box that's been made for long enough to be proven... -
Man 'cured' of speed cam phobia 3 Mar 2009 (Forum)
"Although there's a lot of information on the internet about speed enforcement, it really helped him to have a personal touch to just explain a bit about the process." Mr Rowe added: "It's recognised that if you drive past a fixed site camera the average person will probably check their speed to make sure they are doing the appropriate speed. "Colin's reaction went beyond that and he felt anxiety and stress." -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - Dilema 28 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I currently drive approx 20,000 miles a year to work and back. I am looking to change my existing Focus 2.0 ESP Petrol averageing about 35mpg. However, I don't know what to buy. I was originally thinking of a Seat Leon FR TDI (170PS), but at only a 10k service interval and about 44mpg whilst it would be a fun drive to work (which is mainly A and B roads) I was thinking from a runing costs point of you, I could do better. -
Honda Accord UK (2008 - ) - New Honda Accord. 9 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I take a genuine interest in cars; but I feel the new Honda Accord deserves much more fuss. Does it have traction control I wonder in the Executive model? That was important to me when driving on the ice the other day. I also like front wheel drive. I was interested in the new Citroen C5 for my next car, but the Honda Accord is much better. I am genuine about this message, as my present car is excellent, but it is old and has very big milleage. The garrage warned me that I may have problems in 6 weeks or 6 months.Something connected to the gearbox is getting warn. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Road test - 1.25 Style 11 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Overall, I loved its general feeling of calm when driving, but it is let down by a terrible engine that is quiet but obviously not suited to the Fiesta - a low-pressue turbo would have sorted this Im sure. Its a bit average really and the problem I have is that to get any performance in the petrols, you pay at the pumps. -
Audi A4 B6 (2001 - 2005) - 03 1.9TDI - stuck bonnet 12 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Has anyone had the same problem, or can anyone post a shot of the mechanism so I can have a go at pushing it free by hand. Also once the oil light goes on, how far is it safe to drive before you run the risk of ruining the engine? I need to drive about 50 miles tomorrow, and have already had to do about 100 since the light first came on. Any help, much appreciated. Cheers Pete -

Audi 80 Mk II (1991-1995) - 93 2.0 Uncomfortable suspension 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The only thing i can think of now is the front schokers which are nearly 15 years old Would you think changing them (front schoks) would help supress the road imperfections better? Im more than happy to drive like this its not totally bad but it wouyld be nice to have a smoother ride? -
Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - 93 1.3slx Auto - juddering & cuts out. 30 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Wonder if anyone can help. We've had one mechanic drive this car for a week (doing over 60miles) and it never happened to him. Another tested it on computer but apparently the fault won't log until it happens twice on the same journey - as you have to turn off to re-start this is never going to happen !
