  • Our unjust driving laws. A rant. 2 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I could go on Point is, I lose my licence for exceeding a oathetically low speed limit. I wonder when all driving offences will be magically covered by the doctrine of speeding?
  • What was the point? 18 Sep 2002 (Forum)
As I pass he sounds his horn continuously for 10 seconds or more. I find it all rather depressing. Don't these people have a concept of dangerous driving? Don't they realise that if the car in front has a blow out, or serious engine problem, then they are in deep doo doo? Roll on compulsory repeat driving tests every few years.
  • Mazda Xedos 6 - Jerky drivetrain 28 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Its a 1996P model with 59,000 miles on the clock. The problem is that I find that the car is practically impossible to drive smoothly in stop start traffic using 1st and 2nd gears. It's practically impossible to drive in stop start traffic in 1st and 2nd gears without there being a slight lurch in the drivetrain (the only way around this is to ride the clutch which isn't the best thing to do!)
  • Audi 80 hates the winter 12 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Hi, My Audi 80 (1988, 1.8 carb) has a strong dislike for the winter weather. She'll be driving along fine (normally for about 10 minutes) then she'll start to lurch. Then engine gives bursts of power, jitters, does almost everything you can think of, and then often dies. Sometimes she'll drive through it, though most of the time she doesn't.

  • An extended test drive of a new shape Audi A6. 12 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I have recently had a new shape A6 2.0 Tdi S-Line Multitronic on a 5 day extended test drive and here are my thoughts. To put a bit of background to this, my company car is due for renewal and I had originally short listed a Merc E and a 5 series for test drives. Unfortunately the E has now been removed from my list so although I wasn’t that keen, I decided to drive an Audi as a comparison to the BMW 5 series.
  • Dream practical car for a European travel tour? 26 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Some cars are just too big for Mediterranean countries or tight parking spaces.  I wanted a car that is fun to drive on mountain roads, great on adventure and enjoyable to drive on long journeys. A great sound system.

  • 2003 CR-V iVTEC petrol - Almost stalls at idle then recovers and repeats 15 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Just got an EML on the dash. Thought it might just be related to a bad start (didn't hold key long enough) but even after a drive light on and symptoms as above. Drives fine   Think it might be the idle control valve but open to other ideas and does anyone know how much of a job it is? Cheers!

Driving to the south of France just after Christmas to do some skiing and sightseeing; fun drive in a day, via EuroTunnel ! - anyone got any advice who's been there : 1. Cheap place to stay ! • Policing By Computer 9 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Looking at my and friends' local papers, apart from drink driving, most of those prosecuted seem to have been caught by camera (speeding, bus lane, etc.) or IT (untaxed, uninsured,etc.). There are a few mobile phone offences that does not reflect the number of people I see driving and using phones (often school run!)
  • New tyres 29 Jun 2015 (Forum)
This has probably been done to death before and, if so, I apologise but could somebody who knows what's what please advise of the correct driving procedure immediately after new tyres have been fitted. I have a Mazda 6 2.0litre and have had new front and rear tyres fitted this last week. Is it necessary to 'drive them in'? If so, how? There seems to be a lot of contradictory advice on various websites. Thanks in advance.
