    News that the 30 millionth Volkswagen Golf rolled off the line at Wolfsburg had the HJClassics team thinking about the production milestone that marks this car out as such an enduring success since the launch of the Mk1 in 1974.     The 20 th Festival of Speed, provisionally, is to take place from Friday 5 July to Sunday 7 July, with the Moving Motor Show on Thursday 4 July. The Moving Motor Show lets the public see all the latest cars in motion before they go on sale and takes place before the main event, which features performance cars, sports cars racing machines and motor cycles, past and present, from around the world. The Revival, which is provisionally scheduled for 13-15 September 2013, features motor racing machines from yesteryear, along with spectacular displays and period costume.

    All new Volkswagens excepting the Up will come with DAB radio as standard. DAB will be fitted to all of the cars in the range from the Polo right up to the luxury flagship Phaeton model. The  upgraded radio will be able to pick up analogue FM and AM signals, too, and will come with a standard AUX-in socket for listening to media players.

    The number of commercial vehicles sold by German car manufacturer Volkswagen increased over the course of 2007, it has been reported. According to the company, the 488,700 units picked up by consumers represents a 10.7 per cent rise in vans and trucks sold.

    More vehicles from BMW were registered in 2007 than in 2006, the company has announced. The German automobile manufacturer has revealed that it sold 121,575 own-branded cars to consumers over the course of the year along with 47,661 under the Mini name. Altogether this represents a ten per cent increase on figures from 2006, it added. In addition, the company has commented on the success of its environmental technology, revealing that 94 per cent of cars sold came equipped with Efficient Dynamics.

    According to statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), there were 146,236 vehicles produced during the period, showing a 13.7 per cent rise on last year. In total, more than 1.4 million cars have been put together in plants across the country during 2007, which in turn marks a 5.5 per cent increase.   • New Mitsubishi concept takes spotlight in Detroit 11 Dec 2007 (News)
    The Concept-RA vehicle has been revealed by Mitsubishi at the North American Motor Show. A number of features have been packed into the car, including a new diesel engine which the company has stated gives it "exciting driving manners". "[It] utilises a new catalytic converter system that brings together diesel oxidation catalyst , NOx trap catalyst and diesel particulate filter technologies," Mitsubishi commented.
