mercedes slk230 servicing 13 May 2007 (Forum)
On a 4 year old car (when services due would be dashboard indicated) does anyone know if simply changing the oil and filter would provoke a "service due" light due to the change in cleanliness of the oil? I am a fan of frequent oil changes but see little point if my efforts to look after the car cause the light to come on; it is my intention to have the main service done by mercedes. -
Mondeo gearbox oil changing 28 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have an 'S' reg diesel manual estate that has done 120000 miles now so feel a change of oil is due. Am I right in thinking that the box is refilled through the level plug on the front face of the 'box? Can see no other way. What is the best way to do this please, squeezy bottle and a rubber pipe maybee? -
Gearbox oil change - Renault Kangoo 15 Nov 2006 (Forum)
We own a Kangoo which is just out of warranty as a "doggy waggon" and intend to keep it as long as possible. I was thinking of changing the gearbox oil at 40k intervals but am unsure about what to use. Renault only specify a particular Elf brew or would a good synthetic brew with to GL5 standard of the same be a better bet? I have used Ovoline synthetic in my Land-Rover box with very good results. -
Where Can I Get My Oil Changed (Diesel) 22 Feb 2005 (Forum)
National tyres do cheap oil changes for cars, do you know anywhere that does a similar deal for diessel cars (hdi picasso) i used to do it myself but it was always on petrol cars, then with the national deal it wasnt worth doing it yourself just take it there every year. does anyone have any ideas who does a similar sort of thing -
Engine flushers 4 Feb 2003 (Forum)
If it helps anyone considering flushing out engine prior to or with oil change, i used a standard pre oil change flush from Halfords which whilst clearly getting a lot of gunk out of the engine (as was evident from the old oil), did seem to cause one of the Injectors to begin malfunctioning. -

My wifes car is only used for short runs, I changed the oil & filter when she got it and since had done 2225 miles in a year almost to the day. So as we want this engine to last my question is, would it be wise to change the oil & filter now (yearly) despite low miles or leave it longer. -

Audi A3, 2litre TFSI Sports Cabriolet - New Audi Oil Change 19 Mar 2013 (Forum)
The Service Indicator tells me (as expected) that the first service will be end of May 2014. However, it is now showing an Oil Change due at the end of May this year. In both cases I will cover a lot less mileage than the fall back figures of 19,000 miles and and 9,000 miles (see above). I planned to change the oil and filter myself. -

I changed the oil and filter in my wifes 2006 Polo 1.4tdi over the weekend. No problems. Re-filled with 3.8 litres per the handbook. The oil was at the low end of the dipstick but I left it - figuring better at the low end than over filled. -
Corolla 2001 Oil Change Procedure 18 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I am about to embark on the challenge to DIY oil & filter change on my Corolla 2001 vvt-i 1.6 Auto. I have spent some time looking around for relevant info (No Haynes manual however) but still have some queries: 1) I read this statment from somewhere - 'It has the cam belt to the left , alternator underneath and the heat shield to the right, there is no room at all to get the oil filter off.' -

Peugeot 406 1998 2.0 Estate - Ca 12 Jul 2012 (Forum)
I want to try and save on getting engine oil, oil/air filters and plugs changed. I wanted to find out how I could do that and what tools I would need. I believe the oil filter is right at the front of the engine behind the radiator and the air filter is to the left side of the engine, however I cannot figure out the way for changing oil. -
