  • Vauxhall Astra H - Air con condenser 26 May 2011 (Forum)
Been really well serviced, as you might imagine and has an extra heavy sump guard fitted. Problem is now that air con is not cold. Subject to a leakage test, I believe the A/C condenser is damaged/leaking. A visual inspection shows that the bottom rail has come loose, although I am unsure if this is part of the pressurised system or simply a fixing rail.
  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 04 1.6 Heater Fan wont turn off (Auto air con) 7 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I have read some of the previous posts on this topic but not sure that they relate to my model. My model has an Auto setting for Air con. Haynes don't seem to cover the facelifted model, so am struggling to find the Resistor pack/speed regulator on my model. Any diagrams/photos that anyone has would be helpful. When I remove the glovebox and passenger footwell carpet, all I see is the heating/cooling unit.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 1.6 Heater Fan and Air Con 5 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I have what appears to be a already diagnosed problem with my Y reg Ford Focus 1.6. A fan that only works on setting 4 A air con light that only comes on when the fan is set to 1-3 Recirc works (light and function) fine I understand from previous posts that this requires a new fan resistor pack... Can anyone tell me where/how to find it in the car and can a novice can change it.
  • Any air con experts out there? 11 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Just fitted a genuine Subaru air con kit to my 1998 Impreza, now the installation manual states how much refridgerant needs to go into the system, but makes no mention of addig oil (PAG oil I think it is). Now the system is new and therefore dry except the compressor, which I managed to drain just 15 ml of oil out of.

  • Squeaky Belt - possibly aircon - Avensis 15 Jun 2006 (Forum)
sounds to me like the belt has stretched slightly and dried on the long journey. My timing belt, fan belt and air-con belt was changed last may, however, since then, i havent done a long journey like this with my air-con switched on, on the motorway. i sprayed some wd40 on the drive and air con belt, i think it helped a bit, but the noise is still there. i know that there is a special spray for squeeky drive belts, do these work well?

  • BMW 5 Series 2002 530D - Power Steering Leak 29 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Having located the leak on the power steering in the area of the power steering cooler, I am at loss to find the best way of accessing this area as it is crammed with air con pipes and the radiators. Grateful for any advise as to whether i need an air con engineer to access this area and change the cooler or pipes.
  • Kia Rio - Impact of Air Con and Tyre Width on your MPG 17 Jan 2014 (Forum)
My observations : Re various speculations on the impact, of using your air con, on fuel consumption or choosing wider (and therefore lower profile) tyres - most modern cars, even superminis, have air con either as standard or as an option. Clearly the entry level a/c sytems fitted to smaller EU cars do not have powerful compressors so the added 'burden' on the engine performance is not enormous and the a/c simply offers 'best efforts' in the spring and summer and usually very effective periodic  'demisting' in the autumn and winter.
  • Air Conditioning Treatment 5 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I wanted to eliminate the chances of a blocked air conditioning unit due to a mould/bacteria build up. I bought an aerosol of Forte Air Con Treatment. Is this the right stuff? Where do a spray it.

  • Why do you advise keeping a car's air con switched on? 21 Feb 2022 (Ask HJ)

  • Ford Focus TDCi (2002) - Air con - fans issue 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Hi There is something going on with my air con fans that I don't if its normal or not.  As I understand, when you switch the air con on, the condensor (low speed) fan is suppose to stay on all the time to cool the condensor.  My car does this, except it seems on warm days.
  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 01 1.8 air con not working 6 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hi, The first question first; can anybody recommend a good air con specialist in Nottingham? Second; I have had my car for about 2 years. When I first bought it, the air con was working. A month or so later, on a really hot day, I noticed it wasn't cooling as much as it should.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.8 TDdi Mysterious pool of liquid under car... 11 Jul 2008 (Forum)
The car seems to be driving OK, doesn't seem to be running poorly. Does anyone have any ideas? Having never owned an air-con fitted car myself, It's a bit of a mystery - the wife only uses the air-con sporadically, but I follow the Ford manual which instucts running the air con for at least 30mins per month. Any suggestions really appreciated!
