Tyres what if 21 Jul 2017 (Forum)
So I took my works van for its mot on monday , booked into the ford main dealers, ( transit connect), it passed but the tester said the two front tyres were 3mm but the fleet management company won't change until 2mm, fair enough ,Tuesday I noticed one of the rear tyres was low, and found a nail in the tyre, so off I go to Kwik fit to get, as it turned out a new tyre, but the fitter said the front tyres were at 2mm and was authorised, by the fleet company to change them, so that got me thinking, if the dealers technician had said the tyres were 2mm but were actually worn so they were illegal, what would happen if I were stopped by the police who then checked the tyres and found them to be illegal and issued me with a notice, how would I stand if the van had passed its mot and I had the documentation saying everything was OK inc the tyres, or would I be expected to check the tread depth immediately after having an mot? -
How to determine a trader? 22 Dec 2024 (Forum)
Good morning I’m really hoping someone on here can give me some advice as I’m at my wits end. I recently bought a Citroen Dispatch van for £7900.00 which was converted into a micro camper, the van was sold with an MOT which was not done by the seller. It had failed on a light and tyres but I have an email from the seller stating the faults has been ‘done’. -

Renault - Master - 96 2.5 too much oil- no engine start 23 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Dear All, recently I put too much oil in the engine of my Renault Master 1996, 2.5 diesel minibus (110,000 miles). At the MOT check when at high revs the van started chucking out black smoke, when the tester turned off the ignition, the engine still ran. Looks like oil got sucked up into the fuel system. The RAC repair man drained the oil out and the van went through the MOT ok. -

audi a4 vw passat - revving engine to check diesel emissions for mot 2 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Late models audi vw etc how to rev engine to check smoke emissions for mot test.Have done several lately and engine will not rev above 1000 revs so smoke meter cannot detect emissions. why don't VOSA offer MOT reminders? 4 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I've not seen this anywhere else in here but obviously there's a lot to get through so apologies if it has been asked in the past. I was pulled over by the police the other day after a check on my van registration showing that i did not have a valid MOT. With life as hectic as it is these days, it's hard enough remembering why you've just walked into the kitchen and started scratching your head so why wouldn't VOSA do us a favour and give us some sort of reminder? -
Peugeot autosleeper - Buying second hand campervan with 'fixed' rust 22 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Hi, first tine posting and I know very little about vans in general... We are looking to buy a camper van and have found one that fits all of our criteria, it is 17 years old, and on checking its MOT history it has had what sounds like some fairly major issues in the past. in 2017 the rear brake pipe was excessively corroded, in 2014 the structure had 'excessive corrosion seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of body mountings' at the front, offside, offside rear, offside front and nearside. -

2001 Renault master 2.8 di - Rrenault master smoking 13 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Hi Everyone, Trying to get my van ready for its MoT in September and its smoking on start up and continues to smoke for 10 minutes or so. My thought was that its the cold start feeding too much fuel. I wouldn't be normally be bothered but I know the MoT testers have been very strict on any visual smoke. -
Looking at Parkers plus guide. Depressing. 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
The version that covers older vehicles. How can a vehicle that looks smart, goes OK, with MOT be valued at maximum £130(1983 Metro 1.3 auto). The road tax, recently reduced to £105 is almost worth as much! Regretfully Parker does not go before 1992 for old vans. But looks like my 1990 ex-PO 2l diesel red van is worth less than £150(fair condition) as sign-written with a few small dents. -

European Tour 20 Jul 2002 (Forum)
A friend is currently planning to tour Europe for two or three years in a camper van. He does not have any specific route or timetable. If he leaves with a full years MOT and Tax, what does he have to do when they run out ? Does he have to have the "MOT" done where ever he happens to be at the time, and register the vehicle in that country (although he will not have a fixed address there), or is he expected to return to this country every year just to test and tax it ? -
