  Hi all, My wife is after a Mazda 3 04/05 model, but I am a bit paranoid about the expensive ECU fault that is showing-up on these cars. I have heard that if the ECU is unplugged, there is no indication of the fault. Can anybody tell me where to look to make sure the ECU is plugged in and what to look for to check for this fault?

  Hi we have changed the engine ecu for the same part numbered ecu when we try and start the engine all lights work on the dashboard, But the little red led light stays on the alarm set flash's and beeps and the engine will not turn over.

  So now I need to remove the blower motor to test/ replace that however in order to get the blower down I need to get the ECU out the way. It looked to me like the ECU was held into its casing by two 10mm bolts right at the front so I have unscrewed them but the ECU still will not come out. It feels like theres something else at the back holding the ECU in place but no amount of wiggling will budge it.

  The work to replace this was done at HiQ. My question is; does the ECU Housing Box have to be removed or touched to gain access to effect a wiper linkage replacement, meaning it could have been damaged by HiQ. Also, is the quote of £950 for a new ECU accurate? Many thanks Andy

  Hi,  My 2001 2.2 hdi C5 is seriously down on power and  frequently (every other journey) brings up the anti-pollution message and kills what little power it has left, have been advised by a French car specialist to change the map and the maf sensor, which I shall do when funds allow, my main query is does anybody know where the anti pollution ecu lives? When the car was plugged in they couldn't access the AP ecu to do a forced regeneration or reset the eolys level as the ecu has died. I now need to find the ecu to get the part number off but have no idea where to start looking!

  Hello. I've been looking into the software to remap my 2001 Passat tdi130. Will a KWP2000 ECU flasher be suitable? And where is the best place to get the reprogrammed ECU maps? Any help on this matter would be appreciated as I'm new to it. Thanks

  Every time I have my mondeo serviced the MPG increases from 50 to around 54 for the same sort of motoring. I think the car has a ecu which adjusts the engine according to the way you drive, so i would like to know how to reset the ecu myself to save a few bob!! Any ideas?

  I have had to replace the ECU on my 1998 bmw 523, problem is the ecu is coded to the EWS system, can I recode it my self at all? If not can it be done on a normal diagnostic or is it a specialist job? Thanks {corrected typo in header}

  Hi, Car wouldn't start due to an electrical fault. It turned out that one of the pins in the ECU connector had corroded away because water got into it. Got the car towed to the garage, solution sir; new ECU + new wires + labour, total cost = £1400 HELP! No one has touched these wires since the car left the factory, the connectors to the ECU is protected by a plastic "boot" held in place with a tie wrap, not exactly very water proof.

  Does anyone know how to reset the ECU without using VAG-COM or other diagnostic software? I'm wanting to clear the "learned" values (apparently it's a self-learning ECU?). I've read online that disconnecting the battery does nothing as the values are hard-stored - anyone know if this is true or not?

  can anyone please tell me where i can find the ecu relay on my A6? I saw a post from Nov 07 where someone had the same problem as me (intermitent missfire) and they cured it by changing the ecu relay but there was no info on where i can find it.
