Hi we have changed the engine ecu for the same part numbered ecu when we try and start the engine all lights work on the dashboard, But the little red led light stays on the alarm set flash's and beeps and the engine will not turn over. As far as we can work out this is because the immobiliser is not reading the code from the key. Is there any way to recode the key to the ecu... thanks in advance

its not that simple you will need key for new ecu or see if ecu can be cleaned and coded to your key

Thank you for the fast reply, Do you know of anyone or company's that can do the cleaning and coding in the essex area seeing as the vehicle cant be moved mobile would be great

can you not get the key then?
if you look in yellow pages or your local autotrader there will be an ecu doctor in them
but
how do you know that your old ecu was faulty
that the new ecu will do the job
might be better to find the fault of the car first before you start shelling more money out

I work in a garage and its a customers car the vehicle came in with the rad fans running all the time we fixed that, the next morning we started the van and it started misfiring very badly we tryed spark plugs leads and coil still the same. so took it to a Chrysler specialist and after 1 week they said 90% need a new ecu £700 ish. so we found a ecu on the internet with the same p/n alot cheaper than £700 in the hope of it curing the problem.
When the ecu arrived the engine turned over and started for about 2-3 sec's then stopped.
Im going to try and phone bloke i got ecu off of and see if he still got the key.

Has the service engine soon light come on? You may need to scan for any fault codes that have been stored.

you will only hopefully need the chip out of the key fish man or the ecu seller will want you to buy all the locks that go with the key
see if you can get the transponder ring that goes round the ignition barrel as well because if it anything like a vauxhall they use lots of uninterchangeable makes

The PCM hold the VIN number you will need to go to the dealer and have the VIN programmed in. Just the key will not help you as there is a SKIM module around the ignition that reads the key then sends an ok signal to the PCM. But the SKIM and PCM use rolling codes to stop anyone fitting just a PCM You will have a conflicting VIN number from SKIM and PCM + rolling codes fault.
