  Hi, I have a monthly company car allowance of £320 pre tax. Having never purchased a car before or being clued up on taxation, I need advice on the types of used car I could buy for that kind of budget, and figure in all costs such as tax, insurance (24yr old male, 7 years clean license, letter of no claims from company director) and upkeep etc.

  Hopefully people here don't object to this "what car should I buy...." thread. I've visited a couple of car auctions over the last couple of weeks, and I think I'm ready to take the plunge with about £6k. I thinking of a 3 yr old Golf or an Audi A3 (I think I can get one of these for about £6500).
