What car do you recommend for £20k that's quiet and reliable?
I'm looking for recommendations for a used saloon or estate. I have a budget of around £20k. Ideally the car would be a maximum of 6 years old. The key parameters I am trying to fill are cabin quietness/comfort and reliability. I would prefer for the car not to be electric. I drive around 25,000 miles a year, typically journeys are no more than 30 miles at a time.

Can you charge a car at home? If so, we'd recommend a BMW 330e. It's a comfortable and efficient plug-in hybrid that'll be able to cover a significant chunk of your journeys under electric power (saving the petrol engine for those longer drives). Alternatively, take a look at a Skoda Superb. It's a very comfortable and refined car, available with petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid power.
