  • Honda CR-V - Flat spots on rear tyre and judder while driving 4 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Hello everyone, I inherited a 2004 Honda CR-V from my Dad, and in the two years he had it he didn't drive it that much but he didn't look after it either. It's a lovely car inside and I decided to drive it to replace my own Peugeot 107. However, there is one thing that always nagged me about the Honda when my Dad had it and that was when you would do a full lock to either the right or left at slow speeds and the car would (quite violently) judder until you straightened it up.
  • Vauxhall Astra Hatchback 3-Door 1.9 CDTi Design - Buy A Vauxhall Astra 17 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Not naming names who the dealership is but on their website it states :One of the Midlands largest independently owned, family run car Dealer Groups. And they sell Nissan, Renault, Dacia, Peugeot, Suzuki, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Citroen .   Oh yes I forgot to say the original sales man said he could knock off £500 from the £6,995 if I wanted the car even though It was not part of his stock ....
  • Puegeot 405 1.9 TD - Puegeot 405 coolant pipe behind injector pump snap 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hello, Have you got experience of anyone snapping the little coolant pipe which protrudes and attaches to a flexible pipe on the front left of the head just above the glow plug which resides behind the injector pump on a Peugeot 405 XUD engine? It snapped off earlier today whilst replacing plugs - it must have been very ripe because I was careful not to exert any pressure on it, but it went anyway (corroded copper perhaps).
  • First Car... Polo V Ibiza V Lupo V 206 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Cheap insurance, and cheaper to buy than the Polo but perhaps a bit girly? http://snipurl.com/en3i Peugeot 206 Year 1999 / 2000 Nice looking car, but somehow the interior looks very inferior next to those of the VW group. Cheaper to buy, & nice to drive (except gear stick :)) http://snipurl.com/en3k Have also thought about the 106/Saxo but I remain to be convinced!
  • Japanese versus the rest. 21 Feb 2003 (Forum)
(Note I said owners rather than drivers - if your company is paying the bill I can quite see that you'll choose the one *you* want to drive rather than worry about the bills). We have a Yaris AND a Maestro so have a foot in each camp. I've had Renaults, Fords, Peugeots, Rovers.....so don't have an axe to grind but given that you can now get a Jap. to suit all tastes ie. Lexus instead of BMW or Merc. Micra/Yaris instead of Corsa/Pug 206. Landcruiser/Nissan X.Trail instead of Disco/Freelander.
  • Help can’t decide on family car 16 Feb 2025 (Forum)
Thought a Berlingo type van based MPV would suit us well but got spooked by the Ecoboost / wet belt engine stuff. Same with Peugeot 5008. Considering SMAX but don’t know if this has same Ecoboost engine problem? Looked at a Sharan but reliability seems mixed and I’m worried I’m paying for VW badge which I don’t care about. Sadly think the Toyota Verso and Kia Carens boot is too small.
  • Cheap (and smallish) family car for London (Rover Freelander S, Citroen Xsara Picasso, VW Golf) 29 May 2013 (Forum)
Requirements are: cheap to run and buy good boot space for family of 4 not too long for ease of parking I had considered the Citroen C1/ Toyota Aygo /Peugeot 107 as parking is free, road tax low and mpg very good. Unfortunately they are not good on the motorway and have almost no boot space. The new VW Up! looks good but is too expensive. VW Golf might  be another option, but not sure about the boot space as need to see one.
  • Jamie's got new wheels!! 28 Apr 2011 (Forum)
You're probably not interested but im so happy i felt like telling people haha. You may have seen me championing the Peugeot 406 before, i had an HDi executive Auto before someone crashed into it last year. At the same time i bought that, my mother bought one, she has recently decided to go for something a bit smaller, so i sold my Focus which i was not inspired by, and have bought the 406 off her.
  • Ford Transit (2006 - ) - Transit, Ducato or Sprinter? 26 Dec 2008 (Forum)
As usual with FIAT, the substantive failings are usually relatively minor, but FIAT dealers' inability to fix them is a constant source of complaint on the motorhome websites, one of which maintains a list of over half-a-dozen persistent problems. The Peugeot Boxer van (a rebadged Ducato) appears to attract fewer complaints, although that may be because it's less widely used. However, so far as I can find out, it may use a different engine. Does anyone know if that's the case, or does it use the same engine as the Ducato?
  • Multivalve engines - progress? 28 Nov 2006 (Forum)
This got me thinking. I recall a similar experience driving both 8 valve and 16 valve version of the Peugeot 306 XSi on the same day a few years ago. While the 16 valve was definitely the more powerful, and on paper had a modest performance advantage, it was the 8 valve that felt much more responsive and arguably felt quicker at "normal to mildly enthusiastic" engine speeds, and seemed to do more useful work over much more of the rev range than the 16 valve unit.
  • 406 Cambelt Gone - worth repairing? 10 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Peugeot 406 cambelt - worth fixing? I don't know - I've done 80'000 miles in two years, no problems. SWMBO has car for 1 week and timing belt "goes". Changed 50k ago (1 year). Car's done 190k on an R plate. 2.1td.
  • Thoughts on replacing Polo 22 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Safety is a big factor for me - it needs to protect me as well as Polo did, and feel as safe and chunky as Polo does (that rules out Vauxhall, Nissan, Citroen and Peugeot then). I think I'm probably just on the border of a diesel making economic sense, as I do a lot of miles visiting friends and family around the country as well as work. I don't want a big car, so small hatchback sized is ideal.
  • Blackbushe today 3 Jan 2004 (Forum)
The sale split in to three sections, a big Inchscape Retail sale, a big Motability sale and general bread and butter stuff. The Motability and general stuff need not concern us greatly, it was mostly Peugeots/Vauxhalls/Fords chunking through at between £1,000 and £4,000 a pop but it did all seem a little overpriced to me. Worst example was a slightly scuffed R reg green Escort cabriolet with 57k on the clock, unwarranted, no history sold at £3,225 which on a cold January day was far too hot for me.
  • Vandals, lighter fuel, glass & paintwork 2 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I appreciate that it can't be seen here, but if I tap it with a fingernail it seems to "sound" more brittle than the other windows, if that makes sense. I'd be very grateful for any advice or technical input on any of the above. It's a Peugeot 406 saloon, blue metallic paint. andymc
  • Letter from Lagos 17 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I went to watch a soccer match at the Aba Sadium, 25 000 suporters to watch Enyimba play Kano Pillars. Even the State Governor and his entourage pitched up, in a convoy of brand new Peugeot 504s and Toyota Landcruisers. I was standing pitchside with camera, and he made a point of walking up and saying hello, and having a chat. (I was the only white bloke in the stadium!) The game was pretty good, with Enyimba leading 3-0, due to a succession of goalkeeping errors, when disaster struck?
  • Landrovers. Good or bad? A farmer's view 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
It would be struggling up a hill with a trailer and a couple of cows in 1st or 2nd gear, whilst the 2 litre Peugeot would fly up the same hill with same load in 3rd gear, and the L.R.breaking down constantly. So it was another irate letter to the manager of Land Rover's. One of the kindest things that I told him was "Land Rover Safari?.
  • All EV’s - Batteries & Charging 4 Dec 2021 (Forum)
It’s not an outright definition of range since vehicle size, weight, etc will impact on how far it’ll go. If you could put a 15 gallon tank in a Peugeot 108, it’ll go further than a Mercedes S-Class with a similarly sized tank. KW next, and that’s the rate at which it will change when plugged in. This will vary enormously, depending upon what the car is plugged into, and a bit of maths is useful here.
  • Where’s the joy? 10 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Now this is a complex subject with me as I like such a verity of cars from 80’s Saab 900’s through hot Peugeot’s, Fast Fords from the late 90’s and naughties to Japanese coupes like the MX6, Celica and Prelude. I’m in no rush as old Terrance is as ever unfailingly loyal and there’s a waiting list for him when I finally do succumb to stupidity and sell in favour of heart over head.
  • What I eventually bought 3 Aug 2015 (Forum)
This was my original post in June 2015 and I have now bought a 7 seater but I had to compromise on something - and it turned out to be the automatic gearbox. Last week I bought a 3 year old Nissan Qashqai+2 1.6 Acenta. I drove a Peugeot 5008 which I hated, and then a Renault Grand Scenic which was better but still felt too much like piloting a barge. The Qashqai+2 was very familiar as I had a 5 seater Qashqai for 3 years before buying my automatic Skoda when a shoulder injury stopped me changing gear.
  • Commuter Car Recommendation 26 Feb 2013 (Forum)
The commuter was a third car and now looking at getting back down to 2 and trading in the wife’s Peugeot 307 1.4l petrol Envy (53 plate) for a diesel.   Interested in thoughts on the best makes and models to meet the following: Commute – commute circa 30k miles per annum (75 miles each way, A34/M3/M25) and this vehicle will bear the brunt of the load along with the current Vauxhall Astra diesel Estate.
