  It starts ok and idles smoothly however when putting the foot on the gas the pick up is slow and has no kick down, it then slowly gets upto speed. the speedo lagging the rev counter.As I use the motorway for my commute it does improve except for the climbs where it just stays at about 60. My first thought is that I have contamined fuel so I am busy burning that off before refilling with a better diesel, my question is what should I consider looking into next if its not the fuel

  Is it best to go for a 1.6 petrol one than keeping the tdci until problems start arising, already Ive had to replace the fuel pump which had a broken seal and now Ive noticed the water is also dripping around the same area just below the fuel pump from a silver metal pipe junction.   Checked glow plug relay, fuse, circuit, egr valve, timing, crank and cam sensors, leak off pipes, fuel pipe feed, and return. All ok. Event replaced fuel filter. After all that the vehicle still run rough and white smoke on cold start. Many thanks for any ideas. Cheers

  My discovery 3 has developed damage on the elbow at the top of the fuel tank this will require a new fuel tank £850 fitted. My intial thoughts are: If this was a design fault there would very very many more incidents like this, apparently this is a once in a fitters life time event.

  sometimes the car starts, sometimes it won't. sometimes it cuts out whilst driving but will start back up. it displays no faults, diagnostic machines can find no faults but still problem persists. fuel delivery pressure from intank pump is 278 (is this correct pressure?) when ignition is on/ car cuts out there is a whining noise from the front (sounds like no fuel is getting to engine) if anybody can shed any light please let me know. it is getting quite frustrating as i do not feel safe taking the car on long journeys as i don't often get signal on my mobile to call RAC!!

    I've left the car where it is, and was thinking about syphoning out any fuel in the tank replacing it with petrol, and seeing if it will run through.  Has anyone got any advice on the matter?  Either to tell me to go ahead with it, or to definitely not do it! Cheers

  dear john bought this jeep in Febuary nice car drove well it is a duel fuel ,both tanks wer full driving along and it just stopped for no reason. had to get it uplifted to a jeep dealers.after 6 weeks phone call to go and pick up car, they said they could not repair.This cost me £300 pounds and a complaitly flat dattery.

  Hi, had a slight misfire on my BMW, felt like a fuel problem that has got worse, it now had a blank spot when accelerating from 500-1000rpm seems okay over this with no back fire, I have replaced all filters plugs, leads, dist, ECU, cam sensor, and injectors and have checked the fuel pump, it now has no power under pressure, okish on the flat and down hill but struggles up hill, i have noticed that 1 and 4 plugs run dry and 2 and 3 are wet/normal could the 02 sensor and cat converter be the problem?

  My car has suddenly started struggling for fuel ( I believe) when on the road, the symptons are like having kangaroom petrol. If i drop a gear and rev the engine it appears to clear it for a short time before starting again, the fuel filter has just been changed and it was ok for about 8 miles before it started again.When going along the road, if I put the peddle down it struggles to pick up speed and wont increase at all.

  There is a slight miss under acceleration and the fuel economy does'nt seem that grate at 40mpg. Have hooked it up to the snap on solus pro but no fault codes showing. However when I go into the engine managment data ,and under fuel circuit information scroll down to cylinder injection flow correction %, No 1,2 and 3 cylinders show betwee 97-100% but No 4 cylinder is showin 66.3% - 66.7% when the car is running.

  During that 3 seconds you can rev it freely etc as thopugh it were ruinning fine. Watching live data it doesnt seem to lose crank signal or fuel pressure, it just stops as though the ECU were requesting it. there are no fault codes etc coming up.The flywheel and sensors etc are all original to the car, timing is correct and there are no leaks or air in the fuel system.
