  • VW Cruise Control 23 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Can cruise control be retropectively fitted and adopted by the ECU to a 2002 VW Passat. Who and at what sort of cost. It was about £185 as a factory fit. Regards Peter
  • Skoda Tdi 23 Jun 2004 (Forum)
The problem that i get, is that it suffers from a flat spot betwween 2800 & 3200 r.p.m Is this a characteristic of this engine, or maybe an ecu one ?
  • Toyota - Estima 1996, 2.2 3CT-E engine. Diesel fault. 29 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Denso computer 89661-28580 (anyone got the pin-outs?) I seem to have about 11.5 volts going into various pins on the ECU. I have 9 volts to the fuel cut-off solenoid. I have 5.4 volts at both wires on one of the 4 electonic valves on the pump that control fuel to the injectors on the pump. Engine earth seems OK. I did a diagnostic test - (the engine had not run since the ECU had been disconnected for a night).
  • Citreon Saxo - Citreon Saxo Fuel Relay Issue 11 Sep 2014 (Forum)
The wiring in the loom is all good as are the fuses... I'm absolutely stumped. I'm wondering if the relay sends a signal to the ecu and perhaps its an ecu fault? Although when I do get the car to run it runs spot on. I just can't get the origionla relay to power the pump. Any advice is greatly appreciated guys! Thanks in advance.
  • Honda Accord 96 - Refit Repaired ABS Modulator - new problems 9 Oct 2013 (Forum)
The VSA warning light has been on for years and I didn't bother with it as it didn't affect the MOT. It now does. Honda said 2k, so I got the part taken out (ABS modulator) and sent it to ECU testing who repaired it. My mechanic then put it back in but the light is still on so he checked the fault codes and there are four new ones coming up along with the two old one. ECU Testing advised him to clean sensors and reset but no luck.
  • Mitusbishi & Others - Diesel Particle Filter removal 30 Sep 2012 (Forum)
They changed the engine oil and filter after regening the DPF, apparently the oil was corrupted and had been running above the fill level. They also tweeked the engine ECU with an update. So I come to the crunchpoint: I am seriously consdering a DPF removal , I have been told by an expert that it is not part of the MOT, but smoke emisssion IS. The company I spoke to ,have been in Engine tuning for quite a while, and after DPF removal they would remove all ECU programming relevant and after the procedure would run an Emission test.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.7 Knocking noise from engine 31 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi my asta van has a general knocking noise coming from the top end of the engine, i have checked the valve timing and checked camshafts for wear and checked tappets for correct gap and all is fine, the van drives fine with no loss of power, i have tried to read fault memory but unable to read memory with diag machine, i have heard a few rumours about the 2 ecu's in the engine bay causing certain engine running and knocking noises, ie fuel knock/pinking, can anyone advise me what these ecu' issues are or are there any known problems like this that anyone can advise me on, any help would be great.
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 99 1.2 Sudden loss of power - how do I test AFM? 12 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I've checked the thottle cable and it seems to be fine so I am suspecting an AFM fault. There is no ECU fault codes but apparantly on the 1.2 16v faulty AFMs usualy do not show a fault unless its very bad. The other sting is that people have had ECU problems resulting in cheap after market AFMs so it is advised to use a Bosch one but they are £100.
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 03 2.0 "Unblock Diesel Filter" 4 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi guys, I have a 03 reg 307 hdi 110 bhp (RHS) and have recenly had the ECU remapped to increase its performance (now 145bhp). the car has only done 46k, mostly urban driving, and has been regularly serviced (although not by peugeot). it has just given me the "Unblock Diesel Filter" warning and beep.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 2.0 TDCi fuel Consumption 10 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I am told it should be more and the local Ford garage has not been able to improve it. It regularly soots up the EGR valve and has had a replacement ECU with several attempts at ECU firmware upgrades. It also suffers the 1700rpm flatspot. Has anyone been able to improve the consumption and fix a similar problem? How did you manage to convince Ford that it could be fixed?
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 01 HDI lack of power etc. 6 Apr 2008 (Forum)

  • Golf V5 mk4 vibration and juddering 12 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I took it to a garage and it kicked up a number of faults - throttle body short to ground, mixture problems, and ecu defect. I was told to change the throttle body and that would cure it all. After changing the throttle body, the fault was not rectified so i took it to another garage to get the codes cleared, and now the ecu reads no codes however.. the car is still juddering and shaking a lot while stationary and also while taking off.
  • Vectra lumpy acceleration 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Fantastic, however, I still have a lumpy acceleration problem. Between 1000 and 3000 RPM the car is lumpy as hell. I tried the paper clip trick on the ECU and found no fault codes and the ECU light has never flashed on. THe car has had new plugs, fule filter etc within the last 10K and has only done 80K. HELP, its driving me mad. I though at first it could be the crank or camshaft sensor, but surely this would register a fault code??
  • Fiat Punto Overfuelling 12 Feb 2003 (Forum)
MAP sensor appears to be OK but not exactly sure how to test. Did wonder if fuel reg pressure is too high but I can't see how the ECU would know about this, hence how would it know to put fuel injection warning light on? I'm beginning to suspect the ECU but that's a bit drastic! Any help would be very welcome. Thanks.
  • Suzuki Swift 2012 - Battery Disconnection 5 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I am going to remove the battery for charging, Can I expect any problems with the ECU  memory? I realise that the radio will need re-coding.

  • Skoda Roomster - New Battery 13 Dec 2022 (Forum)
Skoda Roomster 2014 Petrol I am about to change a failing battery. Does the new battery need to be registered to the ECU?  If it is not done, would this affect the life of the new item?

  • Toyota Yaris 2010 - Multiple ECU faults all at once. Dead car on M6 ! 10 Dec 2018 (Forum)
It's done it a few times in VERY WET motorway driving that it has stumbled and lost power (felt like fuel starvation but hard cuts, proper jerking) ECU light on and then it's fixed itself. Couldn't get to the bottom of it but suspected it was water getting in and interfering electrically somewhere.   This time it's totally dead.
