Zafira and faulty petrol 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Anyone got any experience of these problems that shows it was or wasn't the ECU? Incidentally, once the car is running warm it does seem to be running not too badly apart from the drinking of petrol and the emissions light on. My car is a 2001 1.8 automatic Zafira with 69k on the clock. Oh, and should anyone have changed the petrol, diluted though it is now. -
Mercedes 320E running roughly and stalling 27 Nov 2001 (Forum)
The whining isn't the gearbox: I've confirmed that by gently revving the engine with the 'box in Park. This noise goes away quite suddenly once the engine's been running for a minute or two. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Many thanks. -
What fuel should I use in my classic motorbike? 16 May 2025 (Ask HJ)

What type of car next? 11 Mar 2025 (Forum)
I need reliability and affordable running costs; not bothered on brand, anything that holds value an advantage. Power-wise something intermediate, perhaps. Never leased a car, and unsure of the advantages over private ownership. Just want the most economic option all round. -
A lot of fog related to buying a hybrid EV 13 May 2024 (Forum)
I do prefer supermini and/or the SUV variants of those cars. Some folks have suggested Mild Hybrid may be as useful as a chocolate teapot in running in Electric mode... Not sure what the full variants do better.. Thoughts? -

Jaguar XF - Is there a way of testing if DPF regen is working? 7 Jan 2023 (Forum)
Is there anyway of testing if the DPF regeneration is still working? Even if I take the car on a long run, it may not regen the DPF as it's not as though it happens on every long run. Thanks in advance. -
2017 Honda Civic - Knocking Noise Turning Steering Wheel at Low Speed 21 Nov 2022 (Forum)
I have recently started hearing a knocking noise, apparently through the steering wheel, which is particularly noticeable when I am putting the car into my garage, The garage is at 90 degrees to my drive so the manoeuvre has to be done at low speed. The steering seems normal otherwise and the noise is not apparent at normal running speed. Does anyone know if this is something that is a known issue on the Civic please, and can anyone suggest what the problem may be? I contacted a local garage to ask them to have a look but they wanted to charge me £55 to run a diagnostic test, which seemed strange to me as surely this is likely to be a mechanical rather than an electronic issue The car is one of the last to be registered of the Mark 9 (I think) Civic. -

Renault Clio - dpf cleaning on a renault clio regeneration 7 Sep 2021 (Forum)
I have read that the Clio has a regeneration system that will clean out the filter on a long run, but unsure how this works. I have read that driving at high revs can do more damage to the engine driving on a motorway in a lower gear even though I have seen this on YouTube. I am planning on taking the car on a good run down the motorway in the next couple of weeks. -
Hyundai Genesis - Cheap luxo barg 8 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Most will know I had a 10 yet old Suzuki sx4 that I've owned from new and it's been an excellent car never letting me down. I left that car with my wife as it's cheaper to run and insure so not to cost her to much to run. In the near future I'm thinking of getting myself a luxo barge up to £20k. I was looking at the Hyundai Genesis 2015 19000 mike's on the clock all the luxuries one could want. -

2011 Seat Leon - 1.6 TDi - 106k Miles - Car Service €1,500 - Seems Steep? 25 Apr 2019 (Forum)
900 was bad enough. But it had now spiralled to 1,500. I asked for an itemised bill so I could run the costs by you guys for a second opinion. Any mechanics out there that could quickly run your eye over it and give a second opinion? Thanks Screenshots of itemised bill below image 1: https://imgur.com/NtWpG6K image 2: https://imgur.com/rf8ZGCV image 3: https://imgur.com/4zraABC -

Renault Megane - Renault 23 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Is anyone running a Megane MK4? I am thinking of one but don't see many about despite having three main dealers within ten mile radius. The engine I've seen is the 1.3 tce, as I only do 3000 miles a year the diesel makes no sense. -

Any - Franchises, Coffee/Procecco/Snap on tool van 13 Apr 2019 (Forum)
After some long discussions with my wife and friends, she came up with the idea of running a franchise of some description in a couple of years time. Before we make the plunge, I would like to know the typical running costs and what licences we need to apply for. I think there is a street traders licence and we need to have hygiene certificates? -
Is an engine warning light an automatic MoT fail? 19 Mar 2019 (Ask HJ)
Is it an absolute fact that an engine warning light that stays on permanently once the car is up and running is an MOT fail? Is this cast in stone?
