Missfueling Ad Blue into the diesel tank 26 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Apparently Adblue poured into the diesel tank causes a massive amount of damage to the injectors, fuel lines etc. A salutary tale but only 30 cases have been reported to the AA. A call to them before driving off would have limited the damage to a drain and clean ! Audi refuse liability as one of the fuel caps is coloured blue and marked Adblue but is adjacent to the diesel cap. -
Travelling to a place of work - Vol 1 29 Apr 2020 (Forum)
I travel in a 2.0 diesel montego and roughly get about 45 mpg and it works out to about £45-£50 per week in fuel. What distance and time do you all have to travel to get to work, what car, and how much fuel do you need? -
Kia Sportage 2020 1.6 GDi - The Drive Home, First impressions 3 Mar 2020 (Forum)
50 ish mile home, Ebbsfleet to Dartford crossing on the old A road, then M25 and A12 home. Fuel consumption showed as 38mpg in old money. No creaks or groans, everything that i tried worked. So far so good -
Toyota Auris Hybrid - Range Counter reduces using EV 1 May 2019 (Forum)
I don't understand how this can be. The range of the car at any one time is usually measured by the level of fuel in the tank. As the level of fuel reduces so too will the range, which is all common sense. Why then, if the car is not running on petrol, does the range reduce? I may be missing something here but I'm left quite curious by what I've observed. -

I have had a five-gallon metal can of unleaded petrol in the garage for more than three years. Does it deteriorate? -
Vauxhall Zafira 'Elite' Sept 2011, 13k miles - 'Gurgling' noise from engine. 21 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Vauxhall advised that it was due to an air lock in the coolant but bleeding didn't stop it. Then they said that it was air bubbles in the Fuel system and a replacement Fuel Filter was required, This was done but the noise continues! I've NOW been told that it's an inherent fault in, not only Zafiras, but also Astras! They also said that a fix had been developed for the Astra but not the Zafira! -
Skoda Fabia 1.2 petrol - Suddenly non starter. 10 Jul 2018 (Forum)
When he returned 12 hours later the car would not start and has failed to do so since. We have replaced the fuel pump and drained the petrol, fearing dirty fuel but even with fresh petrol it still will not start. There is petrol getting to injectors and the spark is present. It IS booked into Skoda dealer on 25th July but wonder if anybody out there can suggest what has happened here. -
reliable diesel hatchback - any recommendations? 24 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Hoping someone can help. I currently have a 1.2 petrol Nissan micra but am spending a fortune on fuel (I do approx. 25000miles a year, mostly town driving and getting 44mpg - about £70 a week in petrol). So I'm looking into buying a diesel hatchback - I want reliability as well as fuel economy. -

Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CDI - Shell V-Power/BP Ultimate Diesels 24 May 2016 (Forum)
Last week on a 400 mile run from Dijon using a mixture of Shell V-Power and BP Ultimate Diesels I pulled into our Hotel in Carcassonne showing an average of 49.6 mpg for the journey. This was door to door, included stops for fuel, lunch and 'peages', a fullish load, two passengers and A/C on all the time. OK, this was a shown on the car's computer and could be a bit optimistic but actual usage generally checked out; we also showed an average speed of 75 for all running time - not bad for a 3 litre V6 - I'm a 'Premium Fuel' convert. -
£4.5k, which family car to keep long term? 2 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Trouble is, I only average 10-12k max mileage, mostly local driving, 18 mile round trips. I really want a diesel, as I love the power delivery and fuel economy, but I am scared of buying because of the dreaded four (DMF, DPF, Injectors and Turbos). I really don’t fancy a gutless petrol that’s bad on fuel either. I don’t have a spare £1000 in my back pocket for a diesel repair bill either. -
Ford Focus Titanium Estate Td 109 (2008) - DPF Fault 7 Sep 2015 (Forum)
In May, following a major loss of power, my Ford dealer diagnosed low fuel pressure & replaced the fuel filter. The problem occurred again in July & they replaced the turbo. This week the engine malfunction warning light appeared with another reduction in power. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso - wont start 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I discovered a fault soon after that sometimes it would cut out and not start or just wouldnt start at all. for some reason i pulled the diesel fuel pipe off the filter housing and then replaced it and it started and worked perfect for 2-3 weeks and would then fail to start and would pull pipe off then put back on would always start again and run perfect, then today it wouldnt start did same but pulled pipe then replaced but fires up 1st key for a second then wont start at all ,would the fuel rail pressure sensor valve (i think its called)cause this ,any ideas would be appreciated -

Honda Civic City CTDi - Loss of power and starting problems 8 Sep 2014 (Forum)
The glowplug warning light comes on intermittnently. My mechanic has changed the crankshaft sensor and fuel injectors but this has not corrected the problem. He suggests it might be a problem with the fuel pump but more likely the ECU. My only option is to take the car to Honda - but before I do, is anyone aware of this problem and what the solution might be (and the likely cost to do so). -
Skoda Octavia vRS - Petrol vs Diesel with a twist. 21 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I'm thinking of buying a Skoda Octavia vRS around 2006 to 2010 model year and don't know whether to go for a petrol or diesel. The twist bit is that I get a company fuel card so although the fuel isn't free due to tax on beneft in kind, it's greatly reduced. However I have to fund all the maintenance costs so need to think about reliability, servicing and costs of repairs. -
Audi service costs 4 Jun 2014 (Ask HJ)

Renault Espace (2002 - ) - Is the auto box a Renault or Nissan unit ? 3 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I've read many tales of Renault auto boxes going 'south' and indeed many a Renault 2.2 and 3.0 diesel's top end self destructing, plus turbo and fuel pump probs too. At 3 years old it will be out of warrenty. I want a Grand Esapce that we give me the least trouble. Fuel consumption, not too big an issue, as I'll only do 5 to 8k miles per year.
