  • Mazda 6 Tourer - Engine Malfunction 6 Oct 2020 (Forum)
To drive the car, all is well other than lag in acceleration, it won't accelerate until the car reaches 2500 rpm in each gear (manual). Their is no smoke or odd sounds. I have read about similar issues that have proved to be blocked fuel filters or issues with Diesel Particulate Filter. Can anyone tell me if Mazda are taking the p$@s?

  • New Tesla 3 - Real MPG 26 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Similar figures are for Hyundai and Audi and the rest. These figures are  more of a joke then the fossil fuel ones. I won't be buying one any time soon or the hybrids the range or the prices just do not make sense  Who wants 2 engines as with the hybrids and when they  add the combined BHP together as a marketing tool well who are they trying to convince?
  • Toyota Zace - Toyota Zace Workshop Manual? 27 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Skywing is running out of time to pass inspection and may be approaching the end of the line. Thinking of getting a Toyota Zace as a replacement. Snag (apart from fuel consumption, which will be high, but I don't drive much) will be getting maintenance information on them. I THINK it was sold in South Africa and I've seen some information on line many years ago, but if I saved it I don't have it any longer.
  • New ford Focus - Petrol Particulate filter PPF 10 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Ford assures him that the PPF is doing its job and basically to ignore the dash. HJ advises the owner to fill up with top grade fuel and drive the first 5miles at 2000revs. Who wants to own a New car like this, always being aware of the consequences of low revs or dash problems relating to emissions.  I want to just jump in a car and expect it to do the job especially having paid some £25k for the privilege!
  • Vauxhall Corsa - Hi I have an old Corsa 2004 1.2 20 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Hi I have a Vauxhall Corsa that was running very badly I have changed the fuel filter. It was very very dirty a lot of black gunk came out. It it now running better at high speed but when I stop at a junction it will not rev again and dies. It restarts very easily and as long as I am reving it it's fine but it will the same at low speed or idling.

  • Volkswagen Golf - VAG TSI/TFSI timing chain issues 5 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I’m mainly looking at the 1.4 TSI or 1.8 TSI. Potentially the 2.0 TSI, although I’d prefer the lower tax and better fuel economy of the smaller engines. I do about 700 miles a month.  Does anybody know which engines are affected or have a list?  I’ve searched Google but can’t seem to find a list.
  • VAG - Two years of goodwill from VAG-Whatever next? 9 Jun 2017 (Forum)
They call it “goodwill” rather than warranty, it lasts for 24 months from the date the fix was applied and covers fuel injectors and high pressure pump, EGR valve and all exhaust after treatment hardware. Still no admission of guilt and they should have done this a year ago.     While this is the right thing for VAG to do Im sure its only happening because of the rising tide of angry customers with broken cars and the diminishing numbers of those willing to let VAG near their cars
  • Clio 11 diesel 2001 - Engine won't start when interior is hot. 3 Jun 2017 (Forum)
When the interior gets baking while the car is parked in the sun, the engine won't start but does turn over. As it's diesel it seems like the fuel shut off valve is not opening. The remedy is to open all the windows and a door to allow ventilation and  the interior to cool down a bit. Then after a few minutes the engine will start. All the relays are far as I know are under bonnet so I can't attribute the cause to an over heated relay.
  • Skoda Octavia Estate - Advice please 12 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Being sensible, I've suggested the 1.4 TSi 150 SE but being younger, he's suggesting the 2.0 TSi 220 vRS version despite the higher costs for purchase, insurance and fuel. All your comments, constructive or otherwise, would be appreciated.
  • Used car advice ? 20 May 2016 (Forum)
I do roughly 12k miles per year and with most of those miles on motorways/a roads.Car wise something small-med hatchback and with decent legroom and some comfort on long trips as it is mainly only me traveling. It needs to be good on fuel, reliable and cheap to run.Any suggestions ? So far my list is: Toyota auris 1.33,1.4 (discarded the 1.6 because reviews said top gear is too low) Honda Civic 1.8 (From certain reviews seems a bit thristy and the 1.4 is too underpowered) Honda Jazz (Read that it is not good on long trips) Thanks

I am not getting any engine management light on the dash, I have checked for error codes, with code reader,  and found none. car cranks, I have fuel coming up to filter all fuses are fine. All relays appear to be fine but cant find engine control relay anywhere. I have been told it is relay 109 but no such relay is visible. Does this relay go by any other numbers?
  • Any - Small hire car "scam" but nice for the benefactor 7 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Nice to see the hire car boys are still refunding foreign currency fuel deposits a few pence less than the original amount, (just less than a quid)! Not big enough for me to justify going to the trouble of a long drawn-out telephone call, but X however many vehicles they must rent out in a day worldwide, a nice little earner maybe?
  • Jaguar, Mercedes, Hyundai - Jag/Merc/Hyundai?!?! 6 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I'm looking for a cheap 'executive' type car and have seen some low prices coming up for these cars lately.  I think my choice is the Jaguar xj6 (x300) but I'm a bit worried about rust, and fuel consumption - I'm reading conflicting reports about just how thirsty these cats are! I'm also considering the - wait for it  - Hyundai xg30. Whilst it doesn't have the looks of the other marques (though I like the back end) it does, on paper at least, tick the boxes with regards to running costs and equipment levels.
