  While driving engine revs increase spontaniously and there is no response from accelerator.  At the same time an 'engine failure' notice appears on the dashboard. It is in the dealers for the third time snd had been there for a week and no fault has been found.

  when my jetta is cold it takes up drive smoothly then it goes through a period of grabbing then eases off a bit .Does anyone know if it can be adjusted or fixed .It's only done 30,000 mls.

  Put my nose into the local Audi dealer today, just for fun. Totally astonished to realise that one can potter about town in a 4-wheel drive diesel estate, and pay the bandits £55,000 for the privilege.  Quite extraordinary!!

  I've got a whirring rubbing noise that seems to be coming from the gearbox but it doesn't happen all the time. On a drive it will go away and then return later. There is oil in the gearbox.

    53mpg from the V6 twin-turbo Jag, when Clarkson wasn't even trying to drive economically for most of the trip ... that's pretty impressive.  As was 60+mpg from the Subaru!
