• Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon diesels - Volkswagen emissions defeat devices 8 Oct 2015 (Forum)
   I was expecting them both to be subject to the recall, but on checking the manufacturer's websites with the VIN numbers both vehicles are NOT subject to the recall. I was most surprised. Can anyone explain this? Both are DSG automatics. It seems we will both be missing out on compensation that could be in the order of £2k!

    Now I am not bothered about the engines as such as I'm looking for the diesel version but I am very concerned about clutch/DMF failure and so I was wondering if an automatic Mondeo diesel would be the way to go as I've heard that they don't have a dual mass flywheel.  Any advice would be welcome.

  Getting used to it but trying to edge up close to a steep bank to dump materials was scary...I hate automatics at the best of times but without even a brake pedal to stomp on as a last resort, was something else entirely! Of all the machines to design in this way, an off-road based one that needs good slow speed control would not be my first choice!

  I test drove a 5 door Colt 1.3 with 'Automatic Manual Transmission' today. It grew on me very quickly with a superb interior, excellent steering and cornering and a willing, if slightly vocal, engine. Manual mode was fine, but the AMT I didn't really master in the 30 minutes available.

     Must be a small crossover with 4WD (lot of snow up here), diesel, low Co2, high MPG and (this is the hard part) automatic.  Cost to be under £20k.  We also will live up quite a steep hill so will need a reasonable amount of power Fiat 500L Duologic Trekker (she really likes this but I wonder if it may be a little underpowered).

  Yesterday my fathers Civic Hybrid got written off and needs a replacement by the end of the month. He needs an automatic and needs it to be second hand. None of them automated clutch systems. I have suggested either the 61 plate Honda Jazz ES CVT or a 61 Kia Rio 2 Auto. The cost to change will be about 4k but I am going to go with him to both dealerships this weekend to check both of them out.

  Been driving my father's car around this week.  Its a 2.5 year old Daihatsu Sirion Automatic with only 8,800miles on it.  It drives really well, but starting is not quite as instant as it once was.  I intend to consider the battery as well, but I wonder if it could do with some form of cleaning out of the fuel system and cylinder heads given its use for mainly short cold journeys.

  This brake problem is on a 2007 Landcruiser, 3.0l diesel automatic. The brake pedal nearly goes to the floor, although it does continue to stop the vehicle. I have bled the brakes with no noticeable effect. There appears to be no brake booster fitted, having just the standard servo and antilock system.

  Genuinely puzzled, I understand from what i have been told that some automatics "lock out" 1st and start in second when the snow/slippery  button pressed, and have also been told it is better to do so with a manual as well. This I cannot understand.  I have always used first, modulating the torque with delicate clutch control, & it has always worked for me, how can second work any better?

  Hello, I need some advice for my Espace that broke down today. Renault Espace 2.0 Priviledge Y reg. Auto. It seems to be the automatic gearbox, it won't go forward but will engage reverse. Prior to this we had an electrical sign appear for a few weeks when I accelerated the gearbox got stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear and the sign would come on.

  I have 1.4 R reg vauhal corsa automatic. The sports mode light keeps flashing when i turn engine on and there is hardly any power in pulling away. In the past, i used to be able to turn engine on and off again to sort the problem out, now though, if i switch the engine off while this problem is occurring, it wont start up again until a long time has lapsed.

  Once my vauxhall signum 2.2DTi, diesel, automatic, sept 2003 has warmed up, anything more than very gentle accelaration causes "spanner" to appear & car to go into limp home mode. Switching off ignition & restarting clears spanner & limp home until it repeats.

  I've been hunting round for good deals for a new Zetec 1.4 (met paint), and so far the best I've had from a dealer is: £10096, inc 12 months RT, mats, fuel, automatic wipers+lights, Vision blue met. paint. Does that sound like a good deal? Any feedback would be appreciated :) I've seen a couple of places cheaper online, but I'd like to part ex my old 06 Fiesta Style Climate 1.25 (22k miles). £3700 part-ex value from that dealer.

  Hi, Sorry if this sounds ridiculous, but my girlfriend's 1.0l micra automatic makes a noise at very low speed (just moving) that can only be described as the noise flipper the dolphin makes when he comes out the water. It also chugs a little at the same time. Anyone know what may be the problem and how much work/money would be involved in sorting it out?
