Design: Between the Lines by Patrick Le Quément 28 Oct 2019 (News)
. It’s pithy, amusing and at times it pulls no punches - le Quément was as much a car industry executive as he was a designer and is widely regarded as one of the styling chiefs - along with Chris Bangle at BMW and Walter da Silva at VW - that managed to evolve design into a business function in its own right, rather than as a service. Indeed, his passion for the importance of design within a corporate environment is a theme that runs throughout the book. It was for his 22 years at Renault that le Quément won the most acclaim, not only for his influence on car design but also on corporate culture. For years, design departments had fought to be heard and it’s through figureheads such as le Quément, whose management influence was as important as his design leadership, that the process by which design and engineering departments began working together evolved. -

Golden oldies included a 1928 Alvis 12/50 TG two-seater in a nicely patinated ‘barn find’ condition having spent the last 40 years on blocks. Be nice to get it running but keep the look. Estimated at £8,000 - £12,000 and sold for £12,320 inc. With 4 years in production v/s 1 year for the Model B V8, Model A Fords are ten to a dollar in the USA. -

1980s Willhire 24 Hour Reunion Race Now On 19 Feb 2014 (News)

Toyota Prius Avoids Congestion Charging 16 May 2002 (News)
Notes:- Toyota Prius drivers will have to pay a £10 administration cost per year for congestion charging. TransportAction PowerShift is a government-funded initiative run by the Energy Saving Trust, which aims to create a sustainable market in the UK for vehicles which run on clean fuels such as LPG, natural gas and electricity. Since it was started in 1996, the programme has helped place 12,000 clean fuel vehicles on UK roads. -
Very Successful Classic Auction Today 3 Dec 2001 (News)
A 1964 Mini Cooper 1275S, which must have been one of the first 1275s, sold for a huge £7,600. A 1972 Morris Minor Royal Mail van, crashed on its first collection run, then rebuilt and stored ever since with just 70 miles on its clock sold for £7,700. An Austin-badged 1972 Minor pick-up with tilt also did well at £4,100. A very pleasing 1933 Austin 12/4 two seat tourer sold for £6,900. -

1930s Aston set to fetch £110,000 4 Oct 2017 (News)
Previous owners Richard and Sandra Loveys used the car extensively over 35 years at Aston Martin events and also took part in the Norwich Union Classic Run on numerous occasions. In 2005, the car formed part of the St George's Day parade at Windsor in front of the Queen. In 2016 the car was repainted in dark blue and trimmed with burgundy leather. -
Suzuki introduces scrappage scheme with £2000 savings 8 Sep 2017 (News)
Suzuki has launched its own scrappage scheme with a £2000 offer on a range of new models. The scrappage programme runs until the 30 September 2017 and offers buyers up to £2000 off selected Suzuki models. Cars traded-in must be registered before the end of 2009. Any make of petrol, diesel or hybrid car can be traded in - although they must be pre-Euro 5 emissions standard. -

Healey family automobilia heads to auction 17 Aug 2017 (News)
They include signed books, diaries, unseen concept car artwork, and scratch-built models. There are also trophies and meticulous notes from races, test drives, and record-breaking runs on the flats at Bonneville. And one of the more unusual items in the collection is a radio receiver built by Donald Healey, which was one of his key interests outside of racing and car design. -
600 classic Fords set for Midlands rally 15 Jun 2017 (News)
. A first for this year is the 1925 Ford Model T Railway Inspection Car which will be running on a short 30m section of track outside the Collections’ Centre. Held in conjunction with the Ford Y & C Register, vehicles on display will include commercials, tractors, and a range of vehicles built using a Ford engine up 1990. As you’d expect, there’ll be plenty of Model Ts on show as well as transport from the pre-war and austerity years.
