Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi - Diesel Smell 5 Sep 2010 (Forum)
The engine shows no signs of malfunction when the smell 'appears' however I'm worried that something isn't right. Does a 2004 (53) plate 2.0 TDCi 130 (6) have a dpf and would this be the beginning of an expensive failure? Any help much appreciated. -
Kia Sportage / Hyundai Tucson advice please 2 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Does anyone know if they have any major faults? I believe that the common rail fuel system is from Bosch. Does anyone know if it has a DPF (it is Euro IV)? I believe that the camshafts are chain driven. Does anyone know if it uses a DMF? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice. -
Vans over 3.5 ton 3 Jul 2024 (Forum)
Hi all. Sorry to join and go straight into asking for help but I'm looking for a pre dpf van with a gross weight of more than 3500kg. I've been looking for weeks, trying to find info about what is available. Unfortunately I can't find any sites that give general information, like a list of what was available in this class before about 2010. -
2019 Mazda CX5 2.2D Sport Nav + AWD Auto - 2019 Mazda CX5- engine issues 20 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Just wondering if anyone has anything sensible to say about the later versions of these, has the issues with sump filling / DPF been resolved? Do the facelifted cars ( post2019) still report as having the same issues as the pre 2017 models? Anyone got a 2019 2.2D CX5 in ^^^ spec and got anything positive / negative to say about it? -
Mazda CX-5 - High Mileage Diesel Cars 27 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I am looking for a Mazda CX-5, and i have seen a few 3 and 4 year old ones, with 90k-100k miles on the clock but with Mazda full service history. My initial thought is that the DPFs are likely to be in good condition, and the engines are likely to have had fewer stop start journeys, so hopefully in reasonable condition. I can save £2k by going for a high mileage version, but is it a false economy? -
Good car buyers? 19 Dec 2019 (Forum)
I want a used small/crossover SUV and had almost settled on a Mazda CX-5 but they don't do petrol auto (that I can find in my 14k budget). Doing mostly short stop/start journeys I've ruled it out over the dpf thing. Now looking at Rav4 and Qashquai. Looking for decent size SUV (not huge), economical but wit a little bit of zip and good handling.... -
Future Diesels? - Diesel Repreive? - Soot at the end of the tunnel 13 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Don't think its in an engine yet, but the hope/speculation is that it could reduce the need for / load on the DPF. Gas co-combustion also reduces diesel emissions and has been used in operational engines (was poipular in Australia) but seems to ibe more complex. -
Octavia / Superb - 1.4TSi / 2.0TDi 25 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Maybe the 2.0TDi is the way to go - especially if I can stretch to a VRS... My mileage is around 10k but with good motorway runs, so a DPF shouldn't be an issue. -

Saab 9-3 Vector Sport 2007 Tid - Occasionally smoke and acrid smell from exhaust 21 Sep 2015 (Forum)
After about 5 to 10 mins it clears and goes back to normal. No smoke and engine note back to normal. I don't know if my car has a dpf. If it has could it be regen? Many thanks. -
vw golf 1.6tdi 2011 - cambelt change 1 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Some say 4-years or 60000 miles, others 100000 miles and no time limit, and some say it's there for life. Surely vw should know. Also is the dpf a real problem on this model. Is it the speed of the engine that determines a regen or temp of exhaust. Would a normal 20 mile journey to work be ok. Thanks for replies. Sparky100. -
Kia Sorento - Change from X-Trail to 7 seat kIA Sorento 26 Jan 2015 (Forum)
We fancy a Kia Sorento 2.2 2011/12 model KX2 standard. Can you see any problems with this plan, in particular does it have DPF issues and does it have a belt or chain? many thanks. Dave.. -
Toyota Corolla 2.0L D4-D T Spirit - 2005 - Problems with diesel? 22 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I read about problems with diesels every week in the Honest John motoring section of the Telegraph on Saturday particularly re emissions, environmental and DPFs. Should I have any concerns in that regards for this vehicle? Not much of a motoring expert so would appreciate some advice. Thanks -
Ford Focus - 2.0TDCI vs 1.6TDCI reliability 22 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I'm looking at buying a 2.0TDCI Focus 2009 with 54K and ford FSH, but seeing all the bad stories about the 1.6 has put me off a bit . Is the 2.0 TDCI likely to throw up the same issues as the 1.6 TDCI re: the DPF etc? I'm looking to keep it for a few years, and the last thing I want is a huge garage bill at 100K. Cheers, Tim -

Can anyone tell me if it had a DPF fitted and wether it has a Dual Mass Flywheel, Ive got a funny feeling yes may be the answer, However dont hear about as many issues with them on the 1.9 Tdi as you do on the 2.0 Tdi why is that? Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.6 Diesel Particle Filter 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hi All, I have a 2006 06 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI. Is this engine fitted with a dpf, I just need to know for sure. It is used for mainly motorway journeys so does a good number of miles, When would it HAVE to be changed and how expensive is it to replace? I take it, it has to be done at fords. -
Jaguar XF - P052F Glow Plug Module Fault Code (No symptoms) 28 Dec 2022 (Forum)
There are no warning lights on the car and it drives 100% fine but if the Glow Plug Module isn't working, DPF regenerations won't take place - indeed, I haven't noticed a DPF regen for a few weeks. Has anyone else had this problem and is it worth me buying a new genuine Jaguar Glow Plug Module before the mechanic comes out next week to carry out more tests or will it be ok to wait for him to arrive and then buy a non-Jaguar part Glow Plug Module from a motor factor on the same day? -
Skoda Octavia Estate - Help! Need some buying advice on a budget. 18 Feb 2021 (Forum)
I drive for work so some days I do 5 - 10 miles each way but on other days I do 12 miles to one site, 20 to the next, 30-odd home etc. I presume this means that anything with a DPF is out of the question. I'd welcome any suggestions you may have! Thanks -
Ford Kuga - Ford Kuga mk2 2.0 smoke and burning smell 10 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Been told smells like clutch burning (although clutch response didn't appear to be any different from any other time I've driven it, gear change smooth and biting point still quite low) or possibly the dpf regenerating and just law of s0d that I was stationary and the heat increase caused the smoke which had I been driving would have blown by unnoticed Never had a dpf in a motor so asking for any suggestions please Off to Spain tomorrow (yup, bad timing as always) so gonna call dealer as still under warranty but would like to go prepared with some info as the dealer was a little dismissive of past issues we've reported with the car Thanks in advance and free Spain keyring for anyone who can correctly diagnose this issue from the basic description ive given lol -
Vauxhall signum 1.9tdci - Vauxhall keeps going into limp mode 13 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Had another diagnosis done still no error code. I had a new dpf filter and pressure sensor fitted to the car and it ran perfect for two weeks, then the same problems began again. It seems to happen more when doing faster mph than when just pottering around at low speeds.Car has had a new egr valve just before I brought it two years ago.
